【Kin'iro no Corda】 lyrics: Tone Color ~Shinju no Neiro~ / Days gone by ~yume no naka no yume~

Sep 09, 2013 22:24

Moving right along (and feeling wide awake despite the time)~ I figure I may as well continue doing these in sets, so next up is Shimizu and Kanayan~

- I adore Shimizu's "Tone Color"~ I adore Shimizu-kun, so that should be no surprise~ But "Sicilienne" is another one of those cello pieces I just loved so much I had to transpose it for my French horn~♪ Shimizu played the piece for the Third Selection in the anime.
- And now for something completely different: not a song based on classical music, but classical English literature, if you will. Knowing that Kanayan's "Days gone by" was based on Edgar Allan Poe, I decided to look the poem up after I'd finished translating...and wouldn't you know it, the wording and imagery used in the lyrics are very nearly the Japanese equivalent of word-for-word from the original poem! So I left my final translation as it was, but I'll provide a link to the original poem if people wanna see the similarities. Kanayan sounds so wistful when he sings this one~♪

There are only three songs remaining on this album, so they'll all be up next to finish it up: Ousaki, Yunoki, and Tsukimori.

NOTE: If you intend to use my romanizations/translations, please credit!

通り過ぎた校舎の窓から かすかに聴こえてる
響く音色にひき寄せられて
足を止めて耳を傾けて 時間も忘れてた
それはきっとあなたの phrase

温かな海 深く眠る
真珠色した 夢の続き見てる

Feel your heart 鳴りだした 心の弦
Hear your tone もう少し 聴いていたくて

どこから来るのかもわからない きらめきのすべてを
あなたはまとっている気がして

流星は軌跡を 描きながら
輝きだけを残して行く だから

Find your Light 奏でれば きっと出逢える
Play with me 今はただ 弾いていたくて

創られる時の どこかで誰かが
紡ぎだす問いに 漂い揺れてる

Feel your heart 鳴りだした 心の弦
Hear your tone もう少し 聴いていたくて

Find your Light 奏でれば きっと出逢える
Play with me 今はただ 弾いていたくて

Translation:
Passing through the windows of the school building, I could faintly hear
A resonating tone drawing near me
My footsteps ceased as I listened intently, and I even forgot the time
I’m sure that is your phrase

Sleeping deeply in the warmth of the sea,
I watch this pearl-colored dream continue

Feel your heart, ringing in my heartstrings
Hear your tone, I want to listen a bit longer

I don’t know where it’s coming from, but it feels
Like everything around you is sparkling

As the falling stars trace their paths,
They leave only glitter behind them, so

Find your light, as you play I’m sure you’ll find it
Play with me, just for now I want to play

When composing, wherever, whoever,
The questions they spin drift and sway through the air

Feel your heart, ringing in my heartstrings
Hear your tone, I want to listen a bit longer

Find your light, as you play I’m sure you’ll find it
Play with me, just for now I want to play

過ぎ去ったあの日々は夢なのと
言った人の額にさよならの接吻(キス)
言葉には誤りはないけれど
目覚めれば何も無い 帰らぬ Days gone by

儚き夢よ たったひと夜の
浮かんで消えた 幻影(まぼろし)
見果てぬ希望 想えば淡く
夢の中で抱(いだ)いてた Dream

遠き日々 追憶のもどかしさ
戻れない痛みさえ つれない Time gone by

かなわぬ夢よ 楽園に咲く
花の残り香 身に染む
白昼(まひる)の彼方 永久(とわ)の向こうも
夢の中でめぐり逢う Dream

打ち寄せる波に耳をあずけて
握り締めた砂粒 こぼれて落ちる
この指をすり抜ける海底(うみ)へ還る
黄金(きん)の時よいつしか すべては Days gone by

Translation:
“Those days that might have been are just a dream,”
A parting kiss on the brow of those who said so
Their words were not mistaken, but
If I awaken, nothing will remain of those departed days gone by

The fleeting dream of just one night
Appear and disappear just like an illusion
As I recall how fleeting an unfulfilled wish,
A dream I held within a dream

The vexing reminiscence of those days long gone
If only the pain of then never return, of that indifferent time gone by

An unfulfilled dream blooming within paradise
The lingering scent of its flower pierces me through
Beyond the daylight and facing even eternity
A dream I happened across within a dream

My ears giving in to the waves breaking onto the shore
I grasped at the grains of grains of sand as they spilled,
Slipping through my fingers and returning to the bottom of the sea
Before I know it, all of that golden time will be days gone by
