december drain
alright, so here's a quick rundown of my life this month:
- every weekend since my grandma passed away i've been going up to see my grandpa and mom. i got to go christmas shopping with mom, daph, and doris on the 16th in cleveland, which was a lot of fun. over that weekend, however, i came down with a sore throat and nasty cough.
- jared and i tried to get as much done around the apartment as we could the week before christmas. i had to call off work on tuesday because i was so sick. jared's car was broken into at work wednesday, so he had to go get his window fixed that night. we didn't get much christmas shopping done.
- friday night we left for new phila. jared was completely exhausted, but we managed to visit tiff, jason, and daphne before driving up to grandpa's late that night. the next day i went out with jared to finish his christmas shopping, and after we got back mom, jared, and i watched v for vendetta, which was a hell of a lot better than i anticipated. at this point, i had a lingering cough, but for the most part felt better.
- sunday (christmas eve) i woke up before everyone else and started immediately wrapping gifts. i finished up an ornament i was making for jared's mom, and finished writing addresses in an address book i got for grandpa just in time to leave for natalie's house. we went over there for some delicious prime rib, and opened gifts. i also drank - a lot. jared and i left for columbus that night around 1:30am, and drove around trying to find a gas station that was open. thank goodness we found one in wooster - the station wasn't open, but the pumps were still on so if we paid with a credit card, we could still get gas.
- christmas morning... well, before we went to sleep, jared opened the rest of his gifts from me. my last gift was at his parents' house, so i had to wait. we both slept for a few hours, then got up and went to his parents' house around noon. josh and alaina were both there as well, so the six of us ate sticky buns, pulled all the goodies out of our stockings (jared's parents have stockings for both me and alaina), and opened our gifts. i was really surprised at how much i ended up with! i didn't expect jared's mom to buy that much for me. and i really liked everything she got me too. jared gave me my last gift too, which was a beautiful 1/4 ct tw diamond necklace, which i love. it's hard to describe what it looks like, but it's sort of a circle with a swirl pattern inside of it. i saw it when i was out shopping with becca, and she remembered which one it was and told jared about it. thanks becca! ;) after we finished up there, we stopped by jared's grandma's house, and then his aunt sue's. by that evening, we were completely exhausted and crashed early.
- day after christmas - jared had to work, but i didn't, so i spent the day cleaning the apartment. and when i say cleaning, i mean scrubbing floors, doing dishes, scrubbing toilets... all that fun stuff. after jared got home, we went over to ben and bridget's for jess and bridget's annual christmas party. we didn't stay long, but got to see jt, akil, mark, megan seitz, the guy with a beard, and of course ben, bridget, and jess. after we left we got some food at steak and shake, and i noticed that i wasn't very hungry anymore. i had been earlier in the evening, but as soon as i got there, i wasn't. i took my leftovers home to eat for lunch the next day. mark came over after a while and got to play on our wii. by the time he left, it was 3am and we definitely had to go to bed.
- yesterday, i went to work and felt awful. i left early and went over to urgent care to see what was wrong with me. the right side of my neck was swollen and i felt like i was about to pass out any minute. after waiting forEVER, they finally figured out that i do, indeed, have strep throat. although my throat feels fine, which i think is odd. but the rest of me feels like total crap, and even though i really want to just sleep all day, i can't sleep without waking up every hour or so. i called in sick to work today - i hate doing that, but hopefully i can rest and get myself better.
so, that's my life in a nutshell. sorry for the lack of posts, but i feel like i'm never home anymore. hopefully this weekend will be much more relaxing than my weekends have been lately. i feel bad that i won't be going up to visit my grandpa, but i know that mom's there to keep him company, and clayton will probably be up there with him too. i need some time to rest and recover. i'm sick of being sick, damnit!
