Blessed Yule!

Dec 21, 2008 13:29

Just wanted to wish a blessed Yule today to those who celebrate it!

"The Earth Rejoices! Her Sun is Reborn!"

On this day, Pagans in the Northern Hemisphere celebrate the Winter Solstice, also known as Yule, Midwinter, and Alban Arthan. For us, this is the shortest day and longest night; the very height of Winter, a kind of 'greatest darkness just before the dawn.' From now until the Summer Solstice in June, the days will become longer and the nights shorter.

As we mark this highly symbolic passage from the dark to the light side of The Wheel of the Year, may the blessings of the Yuletide warm the hearts of you and yours, and the light of Hope shine brightl

In other (AOKP-related) news, Caledonia celebrated its first Yule Feaste last night. It was dazzling. With a short melee beforehand (where I declared Zandofar Melee, threw down my weapons, and ran to the playground where I was promptly stabbed to death on the swings), tons and tons of nummy food, a Secret Santa gift exchange (where I got an awesome hot stone massage book and kit), holly and lights festooning the tables, singing, story involvement, and a great deal of laughter. My kind of night.
