And now, for the weekend review. It was a big one.
Thursday night was Barney's last night of Puppy Kindergarten. He's still teeny, about 5 months old at this point, and unbelievably precious. A note, though, we discovered last weekend that he doesn't care for searay02. Usually he's a big fan of people, but he freaks out around her. We're toying with the concept that she might be a vampire, or similar. More as our investigation unfolds.
Friday was a day of cooking culminating in an evening at princessbaby23 and jfl_passion's place for a Beedle The Bard Jammy Jam! We all loaded into the family room, with the floor covered in quilts, all wearing our jammies, sipping warm drinks and noshing on tasty snacks and listened to the whole book read aloud. Made of win! It was a fantastic night, and I hope to do something similar in the near future. Cozy snugglicious goodness!!!!!!!!
Saturday was a birthday dinner for isle_of_woman (happy real birthday today, BTW) followed by a fantastic holiday party/cookie swap at Caroline's place in Huntington Beach. It was incredibly awesome, and by the end of the night my face hurt from all the smiling and laughing. Plus, YUMMY COOKIES!!!!!!
And here I should note that I was surprised to find that Caroline lives several doors down from the condo that my uncle and his family used to live in. Same layout to the condo, too, complete with the attic that I fell out of when I was 7 or 8. Jason delighted in telling me that they've had sex in the pool that I used to swim in as a 5-year-old. Way to tarnish a childhood memory, eh?
Also on Saturday Barney got his first bee sting. =( He was a very brave boy (unusual), but his left upper lip was all swollen and silly looking. Poor baby. It wore off after a few hours, though.
It looked much more swollen in person.
Sunday I went with shironiku to visit Lance and Carla in the hospital. It was great to see them, however briefly. We got to watch Carla walk down the hall (a new development as of last week), and she reduced all of the nurses (and myself) to tears when she stood at Lance's door talking to him. He still can't speak, but they removed a chest tube while we were there, and probably removed the other one yesterday. I hope to get back to see them again soon. Hopefully Lance will be talking again soon. Also we were there between his hydrotherapy and hers, so things were a bit busier than usual.
After that, I spent a big chunk of the day baking ornaments for my meetup folks tonight. They're gold glitter lightning bolts with "NOCHP" on them for "North Orange County Harry Potter". I baked almost 60 of them. I'm still finishing the painting, too. They dry more slowly with the chilly damp weather. Check it out...
Then we went to rustedsigns's place to visit with Jack, play games, and generally have a ball. Jack followed us home and slept on our couch, then he followed speedball to work yesterday morning so they could get some Magic playing in before they said their goodbyes.
