Dear People *Still* Reacting to the Elections,

Nov 08, 2008 01:51

Short form's here. Long form's behind the tag.

I know that some of you have started flame wars. Or de-friended people who don't agree with you.
I know that there are still strong feelings on the major issues, and how the candidates, both President and Vice President, fulfilled their duties. Or ran their campaigns. Or were born.

But we were then, and are now, one. And when re-elections come, we're going to split. And have opinions. Like we've done since back when there were Whigs.

But.

We, as a nation, play by the rules by which we play in an effort to travel the best path. To make the best choice.

And once that choice is made, it is Bad Form to gloat. Or withhold respect from the victor. Or pretend like the victory didn't happen.

This obviously doesn't apply to everyone who reads this. But I'm positive that it applies to someone you know.

The elections have concluded, folks. It's time for the Next Thing. And if that Next Thing is embracing the new presidency or fighting to get Prop 8 thrown out, we're not going to get anywhere by looking backwards.

Break's over. What's next?

Wearily,
