At lunch a few days ago, Sarah Jeffrey was trying to guess who someone liked, but Teresa wouldn't say the name outright, so I took the matter into my own hands and gave her clues to guess. The boy's name is Joey (who's a senior, not in our grade).
Me: It starts with a 'J'.
Sarah Jeffrey: Um...
Me: Okay, there are two people in our grade with the same name.
Sarah Jeffrey: Jordan? Josh?, etc., with like, everything but Joseph
Me: *rolling eyes* No. Um...it's a Bible name.
Teresa (who knows what the name is): It is????
Me: *giving incredulous look* Um, yeah.
Sarah Jeffrey: Uh, Jebadiah?
Me: Yes, Sarah Jeffrey, Jebadiah.
Sarah Jeffrey: TELL ME!!!
Me: Okay, who's the main guy in the Bible?
Sarah Jeffrey: God??
Me: The other main guy.
Sarah Jeffrey: Um...
Me: JESUS!!!
Sarah Jeffrey: Oh, yeah!
Me: Okay, it's Jesus' "dad" (in quotes because God is really Jesus' dad).
Sarah Jeffrey: God?
Me: Yes, Sarah Jeffrey, his name is 'God'. Think! His "dad" *insert huge, exaggerated air quotes*.
Sarah Jeffrey: I don't know!!
And then I went through a whole bunch of other clues like, what sport he's in and such, and finally, she got it! Now, I'm using combinations of the words 'God', 'son', and 'Erin', to talk about people that have the same name as Jesus' "dad".
