Take this job...
Do you ever think about changing careers? What do you dream about doing? What prevents you from making the switch?
I think everyone has a moment when they stop to think if what they are currently involved in is what they see themselves doing 5 years, 10 years, 20 years from now. It isn't easy finding that one thing which you can work at for a living, make an adequate paycheck, and enjoy. Most find themselves going through the motion of clocking in and clocking out without really thinking during the course of the day.
This is what causes a shift in my perception of a job. Does it require thinking or is it a repetitive, monotonous routine, much like a hamster on circling round and round on its little wheel? When it reaches the point of feeling like being on the hamster wheel, this is when thoughts of a career change begin.
I dream of being able to make a living off of writing and artwork. What prevents me is probably my own fear of not being able to accomplish anything from this dream. However, I have taken steps to counter this fear and start turning a dream into a reality. I am looking to put myself in a position where I will be able to move forward and pursue this dream and turn a hobby into a career. IF one does not take the initiative to make those first steps to pursuing their goal(s) in life, then how can they expect anything to be accomplished?! It is a new year and a time to begin anew.
