Sports Teams
Is it bad that I prefer to support teams that are close to me? Or am I just being difficult! :p
I really don't have teams to support. Only on the college level. I support the University of Kentucky Wildcats and Virginia Tech Hokies. Both Lexington and Blacksburg are close by to me. I don't support the University of Tennessee Volunteers even through Knoxville is closer to me than Lexington and Blacksburg. There's a long story behind that.
But professional level, there really isn't a team nearby. In Football, there's the Tennessee Titans and Carolina Panthers, but I really don't want to support the Titans for the same reasons I don't support the Vols. I don't really feel the Panthers, either.
Same for the Memphis Grizzies and the Charlotte Hornets in Basketball. And the Nashville Predators and Carolina Hurricanes in Hockey. I have a Detroit Red Wings shirt, but that's mostly because I have family in Detroit and someone got it for me. In Baseball, my family used to be Cincinnati Reds fans, but I don't know anymore and I don't feel them anymore, anyway. And let's not get to Soccer! There are no major teams in the south for Soccer period! Nothing outside of Texas, anyway.
If there were a Kentucky football, baseball, basketball or soccer teams, I would completely support them. Better if there were teams in Virginia (and not in Northern Virginia, either, there's a soccer team coming up in Northern Virginia, but it's not in the major leagues, yet, and I have issues with Northern VA at the moment).
So I'm at a loss. I kind of want to have a sports team (especially soccer!), but I'm not sure if I want to support a Tennessee team or Carolina team. :( And that wouldn't solve my lack of a soccer team, well, outside of Britain, anyway (Go, Hull City!).
