Japanese Princesses May Keep Status

Discussion to keep females in the Japanese Imperial Family

Considering the fact there's only three male heirs, I say this is a long time coming. That was a very outdated rule that should have been repealed a decade or so ago.

Still no discussion over females inheriting the throne, meaning daughters inherit and their children inherit, too. I know there's already a male heir (Prince Hisahito), but still...I think right now, this is very unfair. :(

Of course, they bring up the oh, so scary discussion of foreigners marrying into the Imperial family, like the danger didn't exist already! *rolls eyes* Honestly! I remember reading how opponents voiced against the idea of Princess Aiko being allowed to become Empress because they were afraid she would marry a blond and blue eyed foreigner. Oh, the horror if she were allowed to become Empress! The horror!

If there's any justice in this world, Prince Hisahito will want to marry a blonde and blue eyed foreigner! And elope if he's refused. I'll laugh if that happens.

Still...I guess they're moving in a step in the right direction. Now, provided they keep moving instead of stalling and stopping, hopefully, no one will have to worry about an heir to the Imperial Family again!
