Pokemon SoulSilver in Japan!!
Someone got the game early and have posted pics online. XD It looks so awesome so far!! The graphics, awesome! The whole pokemon following feature...awesome! There are a couple of disappointments. Suicune is in Kanto so I had to revamp my team. T_T Suicune is one of my favorite legendaries and it hurts not to use him. I've got a Marill to replace it. Eevee can be gotten by Bill at Ecruteak City, where you fight Morty. I had forgotten that. I had hoped to have at least two gyms with my Eevee, but okay. I hate speed evolution, but having Umebreon on my team would be useless. :( So I guess I'll backtrack and train with my Eevee.
There are a couple of negative things about it, things that are held over from the original games, unfortunately. These are just frustrating because it would have been easy to fix.
As wonderful, breathtaking, awesome as Johto is, the Gym Leader rosters are horrible. -_-;; Falkner still has a Pidgeotto, level 13, and a level 9 Pidgey. The levels have been raised, not too much, but still a little. Bugsy keeps his Metapod, Kakuna and Scyther, all one level higher than in the original game. Whitney only has two pokemon, Clefairy and Miltank, decreased a level and Morty still has his four Gastly evolution Pokemon.
In the originals, out of eight gym leaders, only four of them had Johto pokemon in their rosters. -_- Is that not sad? Poor Hoothoot. Poor Spinarak. Poor...Johto entirely. :( The leaders are awesome! They deserve to shine with Johto Pokemon at their side!
The levels don't entirely bother me. I wish they were a tad higher (Falkner could easily be in the 10s, below 15, Bugsy, higher tens, etc.), but whatever. :( I really think Kanto is way too much involved in Johto. Johto should shine on it's own, not have a crutch in the form of Kanto. I love Johto sooo much!!! T_T
But still...would it be that hard to give Falkner a Hoothoot? And Bugsy a Spinarak? At least let it look like the Johto pokemon are used! Poor things. :( Seriously, did Game Freak have one team design the new pokemon and another team the new gyms, but didn't let them communicate with each other? Winona had a diverse team, with Hoenn taking proper spotlight. If they can do it with Hoenn, they could have done it with Johto.
I guess it's too late to complain now. I'll still play the games (Eevee's sprite is so cute!!), I just wish Johto could have shined on it's own, just like the other regions have, without sharing the spotlight. Johto is such a great region; it truly deserved it. :(
