The little desk calendar of Pisces horoscopes Janet gave me seems to nailing things lately. Today's bit of wisdom: Should you feel as though you are dog-paddling in a sea of choices, choose the one with the most common sense. After that, it's just a matter of taking one thing at a time.
I looked at my calendar yesterday and almost choked on how much has to be accomplished between now and the release date for FAERIE FATE. Writing a book seems so much simpler than all the things that come after--the selling it, then revisions and edits, proofs, and marketing. Marketing is not my strong suit. Never has been. Luckily, I have friends who have offered to host me on their blogs around the time of release so I can advertise the book (and myself). Now I need to write entertaining essays to do just that, each one tweaked and personalized for the blog. In addition, I have my own schedule on
Penumbra (which features the next to last set of photos from my cruise today, FYI).
In between all this, I need to find time to actually work. You know, put fictional words down on paper (or on the monitor in this electronic age, LOL) I'm chomping at the bit with the need to get back to work on a previous WIP, to get it revised and make it the best book it can be. So much to do and so little time. Isn't that always the way?
But like the horoscope said, one day at a time. And that also means one step at a time. I have a list, I've checked it twice, and now it's time to start marking off the items. There's much to be said in the satisfaction department when you can look at a TO-DO list obscured by black lines through each item.
I know "One Day at a Time" was the name of a sitcom years ago, but why is the theme to "Welcome Back, Kotter" running through my brain? Argh! Brain bleach, STAT!
