A very long time ago, I signed up for this email group of "affirmations" from "The Universe"...which is really this guy/guru type out of Orlando but hey...every once in awhile, I glean a pearl of wisdom. And one should never consciously piss off the Universe, right? Right!
Well, this little gem dropped into my inbox today:
Starting something, Silver, is the best way to finish something.
And just doing a teeny, tiny something, today, anything, from wherever you are, is the best way to start something.
Today, Silver. Make a call, ask a question, search the web, buy a book, pound the pavement, measure, cut, paste, poke, and of course, give thanks in advance.
-The Universe
It comes at an interesting time in my writing life. I've finished the polished draft of SHADOW DANCE, the romantic suspense novel I hope to pitch at RWA Nationals in July. I have two manuscripts (one full, one partial) on submission with The Wild Rose Press. And now I have time to get back to the manuscript that I loved from the time I first wrote it. SEASON OF THE WITCH is my urban fantasy. I've lived with the world, building it and refining it, along with all the characters for over four years now.
I received some harsh criticism on SOTW and went on to other projects because I wasn't quite sure how to fix the problems. I've figured it out now and I'm psyched to get started on the revisions. The last two days, I've been making notes and getting ready. Tomorrow? Tomorrow I pull out the scribbled notes that will become the first page of the new draft of SOTW. I really feel good about this one. I have to start before I can finish. The Universe has got that right!
Have a great Friday and an awesome weekend! I'm going to be writing and loving every word of it. <3
