You know how no work gets done in that last week of school...?

Yeah. That's pretty much what my writing was like these last four days. It's like, whoo! I got through the challenge of work + Black Friday + staying on target (albeit not on quota), now I'm just gonna unbutton the mental waistband on my brain and find myself a comfy spot on the couch.

*facepalm*

In my defense, I did get sidetracked by a sideproject, so keyboard time mostly went to it, pretty little shiny interesting thing that it is. Also, I strangely do not feel like a failure. Probably because what I gained (and what I had hoped to gain) from this whole experiment in NaNoWriMo-ness was so much more than just a final word count, it was to see if I could actually maintain a daily goal, if I could do the work without the "inspiration," if I could actually give myself the permission to write instead of be embarrassed that I never did.

So although I slacked off, I also feel like November was just the warm-up.

Maybe, just maybe, there might be a writer somewhere in here, after all.

Damn. Getting lazy at the end of the month.

29 Nov: Word count: 17 in the morning and 184 at night.
Edits on two different stories.

30 Nov: Word count: 0.
Ended with a full-on slacker slack.

Favorite 100:
The sound of the patio door sliding open made her look up, made her realize she had withdrawn into her own thoughts. Gil had gone outside, leaving the door open behind him. She could hear the songbirds going about their usual foraging, and more distantly, a neighbor mowing. It all seemed so normal, but how normal could it be, when that thing - Gil’s teacher? - was out there, too?

Maggie stood, and after a moment, began clearing the table, gathering up dishes in the same way she always did. Standing there at the sink, waiting for it to fill with water, it occured to her: he hadn’t told her everything.
