BLAH BLAH BLAH

Another poem that I wrote a month ago and decided that I had done enough drafts so I just wanted to get rid of it and post it on lj. So here it is.  P.S. it is slightly related to R/S. ^_^

Early Graves

When I opened the door
I saw him sitting on the stairs.
I almost walked into him for
the overcast sky
blocked out any light from the stars.
He was lighting a cigarette,
his hands were shaking.

::

He was trying to be alone,
but I knew the places
that he liked to hide.
To think.
I shivered, but not from
the chilly November air.

::

"He passed."
A pause.
"Didn't feel a thing."
That's all I needed to say to him.
The silence said
the rest for me.

::

As he sat there,
he took a long deep drag
on the cigarette
that rested between
his slightly parted lips.
The quick flare from
the end of his cigarette illuminated his face,
revealing the wet streaks
from his eyes
that I wasn't
supposed to see.
I dropped my head.

::

"Please talk to me,"
I begged.
But all he did was stand up,
and let the smoke escape
from his mouth,
a heavy sigh.
The light curls dissolved
into the shadowy air.
Gone as soon as they came.

::

When he spoke,
it shot straight through the air
and right up my spine,
tingling my fingertips,
quivering every muscle in my back,
seeping something thick and fridged
into my heart,
mixing with my blood,
running through my veins.
Primal and basic; fear.

::

"Without him I have no voice."
He dropped the cigarette
to the ground,
and stepped on the butt
with the heel of his boot.
The last golden embers
going out; dying,
the dark night swallowing him whole.
Forever silenced.
