[Accidental Voice // Action] 018

[the journal cuts in with the steady crunch of boots on gravel--and then a quicker, lighter step following; Sephiroth's voice starts up]

"You know I don't need your help, yes?"

[and then... Faith?]

"Help hell. You are ten ways worth of creepy just showing up at my window and asking after borrowing an axe, you know that? Girl's gotta keep an eye ( Read more... )

What are you doing, Sephiroth?

[grumpy!Faith voice]

"He's being creepy mystery lumberjack man, is what he's doing."

[and then Sephiroth's, firmly taking charge of what's his]

"I'm employing some straight-forward action in our little family drama. You know as well as I do, that such things don't happen all that often--best to try out something new."

Everything he does is creepy. [At least, that's what Kadaj is inclined to believe.

And that's rubbing Kadaj the wrong way.] What do you mean?

"Watch your mouth." [Sephiroth's voice is serious, but not overly angry, not yet.] "I'm going to have my own little talk with Mother."

[Sharp laughter] Don't tell me what to do.

With an axe? I'm not liking the sound of that.

Mmm yes, because you are your own person now, aren't you?

[shakes his head]

Suspicious little Remnant... I don't suppose you've visited her in recent days, have you?

In a way.

[There's silence. He hasn't. It'd be weird to visit her, watch over her when he's trying so hard to stay away.] No. Why?

If you had, you needn't have asked. Left unchecked and exposed, the longer she sleeps, the longer she has to grow her own little... fortress.

There's a wall of her... coral... barring the way now.

And you're going to break it down? Will that wake her? [He's maybe a tad worried over here.]

I have half a suspicion she gets stronger when she sleeps. And she has slept too long for mere... sulking... over you.

[he smiles]

One way or another, she will wake. Better the Mother we know, than the one she might become.

She's trying to become stronger, then? [He... can't see the problem with this.]

[And Sephiroth sees that too. He shakes his head.]

Mother is as strong enough now as I'd like her. Particularly when she's not happy with... any of us.

(Also your icon, it is love. Where's it from?)

As you'd like her. [You really just rub him the wrong way, complete self.] Do not harm her.

[marvelicious ♥ It's from the fourth post on the page!]

Don't try and order me around, little Remnant. You know how much use your bravado does you.

[he laughs curtly]

You would like this, wouldn't you? Mother asleep, her presence, her thought missing. How nice, how cowardly, to live this way. But she isn't gone. She sleeps, and she will wake, and I wonder what she will do to you when she does.

Do you think she'll whisper of love then? When she's made up her mind about you, about all of us? Do you think she'll coax and plead and rationalize?

Or do you think she'll bring back the madness? Mother does like her revenge. You and I should know better than anyone.

Think of it as a helpful suggestion, then.

[He shudders; you know him a lot more than he'd like you to.]

It's easier to think with her asleep, but I'm not saying I'd prefer to live this way. I am no coward! You should know that.

What changes if you wake her early, Sephiroth?

Not a coward--not directly perhaps. But complacent. We all are. And to let things lie as they are might as well stand as cowardice.

[odd; when did he ever start referring to the three of them as "us?"]

I don't know what will happen. I know what happened the last time she woke of her own accord. She had been hurt and she had been healing and growing stronger for ages. Time now to see how strong she might be if she does so on our terms, not her own.
