I'm not going to deny that Una had to let go three players recently. Two of those players in the yugiohrp3 group weren't let go for disciplinary reasons while one of them has. I'm not going to sugar coat this. Una has given special allowances to the three players and one of them has really stepped out of line and went as far as to email me personally and cussed me out. She even sent me a text message on my phone stating this. I'm not posting her words here.
Una isn't a dictator by any means and it's pissing me off that not one person is looking at what she had to do compared to what she had done. If Baku-chan and Skunky want to come back, then all they have to do is write their character sheets. Every other player has done it and it's a benefit to the other players so that way there is no confusion about what a character can and can not do. It prevents the Luke Skywalker affect. No one is that perfect. Every player has voted on this and agreed to it.
As for their character journals are concerned, I'll talk to Una about it. I agree with what Lightrobber and MOG said. I don't think it's right to have the journals taken unless the player is absolutely sure that they are not going to play the character again in any other role play community. I say that it's at the player's discretion.
However, I find that bashing a person for doing their job and how they perform their job as they see fit shows immaturity on so many levels. I'm not upset about what happened in the comm, but I am more upset about the gossip and character bashing of the MOD. The players made their choices when they knew a month in advance that character sheets needed to be done, and she even gave a month beyond the date and nothing. Her kindness was repaid in short instead with people that bashed her only because she is the MOD. I wonder, would the same be said about me or anyone else if they were MOD? I would think so.
Let me explain the reason for the character sheets. We have had a huge complaint about Mary-Sues and Gary-Stus even among the canon characters. The character sheets is to help prevent that from happening and keeps the player in line about how the player will continue to play the character. There will always be slight deviations, but as far as the actual core of the character, that will always remain the same. It's not meant to be a tool used to control the players, but rather a tool to help the players and others understand how the character is played. This aspect was explained to the two players in question time and time again.
Attitude was also in question. The two that were let go for character sheet reasons can come back once they do their sheets. Simple solution. Those that kicked out for disciplinary reasons don't get that chance. Now however, if the person kicked out can hold their temper back after 6 months, they can subit a petition to return and it's put to a vote. The reason that Lightrobber wasn't allowed to return was because she used a third party to get her voice heard instead of contacting the MOD on her own admonition nor contacted anyone that she expressed that she wanted to return other than to two players that were standing on shaky ground to begin with. Let's face it, if I were wanting to return to something that I left from, wouldn't it be a mature decision to contact the person in charge directly? I would like to think so.
In Rose's case, she's going to have to submit a formal apology to not only to the MOD herself but to the comm after the MOD approves her letter. There is a reason for this organization. It will show an act of sincerity on the part of every player when actions are performed to make a situation right. We are placing real world standards to the game when the rules are in place. I am also involved in another comm that the rules are much more stringent than the ones placed in RP3. I'll be honest, RP3 is a cakewalk in the rules department. A lot of the rules in RP3 are honor based and that's what we have been going by and now that there was a breech in that honor with two players that completely ignored the requests for the character sheets and one that turned and bit the hand that tried to offer chances to her time and time again, it's only natural that the MOD and the players involved would start to think that there are some changes that need to be made.
I'll be honest, each rule that has been broken time and again, we have allowed special allowances. However, we can't in good conscious to allow these rules to be broken time and time again. That's why consequences are introduced. We can only turn our cheek so many times before our necks get sore from turning our heads to allow the other to get slapped. Enough is enough.
We don't mind the random stuff now and again, but we do mind inactivity. Skunky hasn't placed a post with her Bakura character since May of this year and nothing from Marik since November of last year. Instead we have gotten a lot of long winded personal posts about her projects that really hold no relevancy to what we would consider "emergancy posts". Her inactivity as a player only caused us to think that she was just holding on the threads and grasping at straws in order to stay afloat. I know that she wasn't hurting anyone, but she wasn't active as a player either. I hate to use this term, but she was considered "dead weight". Same goes with Baku-chan. We all knew of their situations, but when so much energy is placed in an irrelevant post time and again and they are long to begin with, it kinda makes you wonder if that energy could be used in making the character sheets instead. So yes, they were released for the reasons of no compliance.
Those of you that are reading this and are wondering if RP3 is going to die, my answer is this, not at this time. We have a player that will be leaving soon and we are still going strong.
Oh, the question was raised if Una was keeping the characters to herself for her own benefit. The answer is no. She's keeping the characters until a suitable player can be found. Ask me if I think it's right? Well, MOG came up with that rule and I wasn't about to change it since it was all agreed upon. It's only honorable to allow the journals to be turned over. To not do so is a breech of honor on all sides. (Yes, I have been reading the entries from everyone that said no to returning the journals instead of following their own rules. That's very petty and it was agreed upon. So do the right thing and follow what you said you wanted everyone else to do. {Insert screams and tomatoes with loud boos here.})
I have been taking up most of the slack as far as characters are concerned. I now am playing my max of 10 which gives me a grand total of 15 characters in two comms. My workload is very high. Una has her personal life, her schooling, her job and two comms to contend with. Is she doing this for power? No. She gains nothing. She could easily walk away from the internet just as easily as anyone else. I'm attached to my computer so I don't apply to that rule.
I talked enough. MSSN Silver signing out.
