Typhoon Goku

Heya all,

Hope everyone's having a great summer, the perpetual ones included...

The weather here has just shifted away from being uncomfortably sticky as the effects of Typhoon Goku Wukong flickers by the east coast. It's kinda like an analogy of life's hurried and harried ways.

It's just strange to realize that a fortnight ago, I was drinking tea-o ais limau (lime tea with ice) in my neighbourhood mamak in KL. I managed to postpone my flight by one night, but I still didn't get to do as much as I wanted to, and see most of my friends. For most of the week, I was sleeping on the floor upstairs between synthesizers and guitars (my younger brother has officially taken over my bedroom), defeated by influenza and some allergy I've picked up from East Asia that now has me back on regular medication.

I returned to Korea and got to do hella lot more stuff - although mostly unconstructive - because a best friend was here. So for a couple of nights, I went skateboarding at the rink at three in the morning ♥. Then I took him to the beaches in nearby Pohang and Pusan. It was my first time at a Korean beach too... and I sure wish the weather will be hot again soon so that I can swim in the sea a little bit more!

It actually feels kinda empty now that he's cleared out his presence from the apartment next door. Tomorrow, I will go to the Bukbu gyo-hae in Pohang again, but all by myself this time! The reason why I have to go is because I'll be singing alto in the choir tomorrow! In social situations with Koreans, expect unpredictability! I've been taken to beauty salons, a bamboo forest, and a kindergarten's sports day where my friend announced to a room full of munchkins that "the foreigner will now sing you a song in her native language!" So last Sunday, I was led into a rehearsal room.

Anyway, I hope to catch up with everyone soon, and hope you're all doing alright!
