Summary: The weather is terrible, and Danny’s scaredrestless. Where’s Tom when you need him?
A/N: *scratches head* Okay, I dunno why every time I plan on doing something it always ends up being something totally different than why my original idea was. Hmm. Oh well, this was kinda fun to write. Even though it did take me longer than expected.
Disclaimer: *sigh* Nah.

Soft. Oh so soft.
The quilt felt like a shield against the unforgiving raging outside. The tremendous crashes, and brutal roars that tore across the sky, wrecking it with light, send shivers riding down his spine.
It was quiet now though. The heavens only pouring water down. The drops littering the window like thousand tears slowly sliding down a cold cheek.
Humming gently under his breath, Danny tried warding of his uneasiness by doing one of the things he loved. But judging from the prickles running across his exposed skin, and the way his fingers itched, and feet tapped, it was not working as hoped.

“Show a little faith, there’s magic in the night”

His lips pressed hard together when suddenly the room lit up, and a zigzag flashed before his eyes, halting his singing for a moment, and making every nerve stand on end.
Light ghosted across the floorboards scarcely reaching his huddled figure on the wide bed.
Shuddering strongly the brunet rubbed his hands together and continued where he left off, eyes shot firmly.

“You ain't a beauty, but hey you're alright”

Gradually his voice grew more confident. The mere whispered words from before disappearing in the harsh winds, only a memory now to the arrogant phrases being boldly song.

”And I know you’re lonely, For words that I ain't spoken, But tonight we'll be free”

Letting the last word slip past his lips Danny opened his eyes to look out the window;
the trees were bending in odd angles, the powerful gushes sending them to and fro, and the rain spilt from the clouds as if the earth had committed some cardinal sin, and now needed to be punished for it.
His eyes darted across the violent scene; taking it all in and trying to keep his newly gained calm, even as a lightning flared up the black turmoil shredding eerie light onto the landscape before him.
A sparkle of electricity snaked up his spine, coiling around his neck tightly, making his skin tingle, and hands ache from their tight clutching.

Being shrouded in darkness yet again, Danny sat completely still, only his chest moving as he breathed, slowly, controlled.

A flash. His eyes closed on impulse, and only his ears picked up the tell-tale sound of his phone vibrating.
Glancing to the nightstand, a delicate blue glow lit up the area.

The crashes woke me up. Terrible weather, yea?

Dragging one hand through his hair, Danny stared at the text for a moment.

Terrible?

The brunet shook his head, as trying to shake out the thought; his eyes straying to the world outside, yet again, strangely fascinated by the gruesome storm.

A buzzing against his palm made him look at the phone he was still holding.

Mind if I come over?

You wanna go out in this weather?

Sure. Unless you don’t want me?

You can come.

A low rumble crawl reluctantly over the house, spreading out on the sky above, before gradually fading away to be replaced by another.
Licking his lips absentmindedly, Danny tipped his body forward, elbows resting on his folded legs, pulling the blanket up to his ears hoping the shivers would subside that way.
Clearing his throat he tried to collect any melody or just a verse from a song, but nothing came to his mind, thoughts having been scattered badly. With a sigh he let his eyes drift shot, blocking out everything but the pitter-patter sound of the rain hitting the glass sharply, and the occasion growls from above.

The threshold gave a drawn out squeak, as somebody stepped on it, upon entering the room.

“Why haven’t you turned on any lights?” Spoke a tender voice form behind. “It would be less scary then.” A pause. “You should really have a night lamp. Like my Mickey one. Always cheers me up, plus it helps keeping the room light at night, but not too light. You know like, when it’s so bright you can’t sleep cos it’s glaring in your eyes.”

“Tom?” A line formed between the brunet’s eyebrows. Coughing lightly Danny hoped it would make the fragile edges to his voice disappear. “You-“, what he wanted to say was, you’re babbling, but the words never left his mouth, because in the next moment a blitz illuminated them, and then an earth-shattering thunder roared cruel above, making the already anxious man jump in fright and scoot to the head of the bed, curling in on himself, eyes closed, and limps trembling.

The madras dipped gently as Tom moved to sit beside his frightened friend, his back resting against the board, and his head turned towards the other.

“I always thought lightings were fascinating. I mean, isn’t it weird how nature can make something like that? Giant flashes of electricity just being released in the air thousand of meters away.” Warm finger tips dance up a goose bump littered arm, coming to rest on the shoulder, the hand seeping warmth and reassurance through the thin material to the skin underneath. “It is scary too though. How something so huge, and violent can be created so casually. You should think God was only doing it to show off, yea?”

The blond leaned closer then, resting his head on Danny’s shoulder, and slipping his arm around him, just as a sound, familiar to a laugh, escaped his friend’s mouth.

Smiling fondly Tom pressed his forehead into the dry heat of the northern’s neck, rubbing his still cold nose against the warm skin there, extracting an irritated sound from the boy, and earning himself a swat on the arm.

“Tom”, he whined, “you’re nose’s freezing!”

Chuckling, the blond only sought to get his face even closer, making the brunet squirm away trying to avoid his chilly body part. The subtle curve of his lips grew into a wicked smile swiftly, and soon Tom had Danny lying on his back underneath him, as the blonde’s fingers tugged and prodded in search for more hot skin, the many layers of clothing, and the quilt making it hard.
Whooping in triumph when reaching his goal, Tom pulled up the t-shirt, having finally got to the remaining hindrance, and buried his whole face in the warm stomach, grinning when he heard, and felt, the other starting to giggle.

“T-Tom,” the brunet managed between laughs. “C’mon stop it!”

One hand curled into blond locks, while the other wrapped around a pyjamas clad shoulder, Danny dragging the older boy upwards.

“No more nose warming,” he breathed, when Tom had finally stopped his pursuit for heated skin, and settled down on top of him. A content smile caught the edges of Danny’s mouth, and at that moment all thoughts of the storm raging outside had left his mind.
Cocking his head the blond grinned cheekily.

“No?” He asked, dipping down, coming to a halt just as their nose tips’ touched. “What if do this instead then?” And with that he closed the distance between them, mouths melting together.

As their lips met, Danny couldn’t help but smile into the kiss. Tom’s lips were soft. Oh so soft.

A/N2: The song Danny sings in the beginning is “Thunder Road” by Bruce Springsteen. Brilliant song.
