A question of philosophy.

It's my understanding that if, in any given situation, one is presented with a certain number of options, and one cannot choose between these options, that none of the options are really the correct choice...and should therefore be scrapped unless it becomes apparent that there really are no other options.  Yes?

I had to write a short, science fiction story for my VHS class, based on a current news article.  In a somewhat embarrassing display of Emilyness, I managed to write a story 5657582 times longer than anyone else in the class, spend entirely too much time on the assignment, and enjoy myself ridiculously more than I should have.    Why is this relevant to you, the reader?  I believe it had something to do with the aforementioned question, but now I can't really (coherently, at least) remember how to describe the relation.
