so...winter wrap up...
at thanksgiving i found out i have a new cousin(or some derivative there of) by a cousin who i didnt even know was pregnant! its a good thing that baby is damn cute or i might be offended. then i went to kevins house to finish up the evening with him and his family and friends.
my cousin davie came down and spent a week with us, i finally got to take him out to a club and he goes and gets drunk and hits on some of my coworkers, lol. and he and my other cousins finally got to meet/hang out with kevin, which i like.
kevin also came with me to noche buena at yet another cousins house, he did very well and they all liked him like i knew they would. I had christmas day dinner with kevins immediate family. presents werent a very big part of christmas this year, there wasnt really anything i wanted or even needed. i did get the peanuts holiday dvd collection which makes me happy :) and my mom got me a certificate for a round trip flight anywhere in the US. I got kevin tickets to see Dane Cook who is awesome and oh so funny, which happens to be on my bday so then kevin got me a hotel room in miami so we can just make a weekend of it down there.
for new years my neighbors came over for a pork dinner then some of kevins friends, kevin, and i went to las olas riverfront area and partied down there. it was a lot of fun, very crowded, going out with only a bunch of guys, and guys who arent the typical guy i hang out with, was definately a learning experience, watching them try to hit on anything with boobs. i had to work new years day so i volunteered my services as DD since i dont drink that much anyway.
january 3rd kevin and i went to fairchild tropical gardens to see this exhibit by a glass blower from murano(one of the venitian islands we went to in italy ;)) we spent all day there, brought our own lunch and picniced and such. only as we were leaving did i realize that it was our official 1 year anniversary, cuz one year ago from that day i left for new zealand and kevin didnt want me to hook up with any boat guys so he finally agreed to make it official (lol...jk...kinda ;)) anyway, since it was rush hour we decided not to bother heading back to broward yet and instead went over to bayside and had a very romantical dinner outside on the bay with wine and everything.
unfortunately that same night i found out my uncles in new york didnt think my grandmother was going to make it through this week, my dad moved his trip up from next week to today and my sister decided to go with him to see her and "say goodbye" my mom asked me if i wanted to go too but i really dont want to see my grandmother the way she is now, all self defeated and waiting to die. the last time i talked to her she cried the whole time about how much pain she was in and how she didnt think she would make it to my next visit. id rather keep the image of her when i was growing up, strong and independant, and remember her that way. so far shes still surviving, i dont know if i would prefer if she lived till my next visit or just finally got some peace at this point.
sad to end such a wonderful season on such a sad note...
