So this weekend, I skipped my friday class, so that Josh and I could head up north. We went to Craig Lake in the UP. I was a long car ride, but it was worth it. We got up to Craig Lake on Friday afternoon, packed all our supplies in the kayaks and had to carry them to the lake (phew... that was tough for me), then we paddled around the lake to find a place to camp. There are several little islands in Craig Lake that you can camp on. We wanted to stay on an island because then we would not have to worry about bears (and having your own island was pretty cool.) After looking at a few sites, we found a site on one of the islands. It was really nice, there was a good place for the tent and a big rock to sit on and view the lake.
The weather was really nice, no rain, it was windy most of the time though, except Saturday during the day. We kayaked everyday, and also went on a 6 mile hike around the lake on Saturday. We did not see much wildlife on this trip though, just one deer, two toads, a turkey (at least that is what we think it was), dragonflies, and of course many other bugs. It was a little chilly at night, but not too bad, and we were able to build a fire on Saturday night to keep us (well me mostly) warm.
We drove to Josh's parents on Sunday and stayed there the night and then back home on Monday. Now I have a week of studying and exams, but after this week...wooohooo, NO MORE SCHOOL for a little over a month.
