Squashed Blackberries

I work with several people who are obnoxiously and ridiculously addicted to their blackberries. They were at an out of town meeting yesterday when the outage happened. Everyone who was still in the office was chuckling at how frantic they all must have been for those few hours. Misery for them but peace for everyone else who didn't have to receive

Jim has a work issued blackberry. Let me tell you, that teeny tiny screen and keypad is not made for old, half blind people with fat fingers!

Juannie has one, too. He aggravates me occasionally when I catch him looking at it on his days off. He claims he's just deleting stuff but he gets hooked reading things until I threaten to bust it up with a hammer.

I think it's ridiculous that work has been so intrusive. Technology like that is fine for emergencies but not for everyday crap. I work from 7:30 to 4:30 and that's it. I'm not checking work e-mail at home. It can all wait until I am at my desk.

The first job Jim had after getting out of the navy was a job where he had a beeper. That thing went off evry night, 3AM, when we were vactationing, I hated it to death. The blackberry isn't as intrusive, nor is his job now.
