So. Got the final word. Mom's right thigh muscle is totally non-responsive. That means that she simply can't stand on her own and she is likely going to be wheelchair bound for several years at best. Life at worst. All in all I suppose that is not too bad. If the back surgery had not been done she could have totally lost both legs or even died so all in all this is ok, right?
Mom has been transferred to long term care/rehab at Wellstar Kennestone. Room number and such for visits will be posted once I have them. There is a list of set goals that mom has to complete before she can be discharged. Basically she has to be able to get herself from her bed into a chair and from a chair to a toilet on her own. If she gets those milestones met tomorrow she can go home tomorrow. If it takes 10 days it takes 10 days. The Rehab Dr. is expecting her to stay at the rehab facility 10 days or more.
