4th of July started off pretty rough. I got called out for a booty call but they changed their mind at the last minute and I ended up texting another girl to see if she was available. She was but it took me awhile for me to find her place because it was the first time I was in that area. It was so hot and muggy for the 4th that I stayed in and I completely forgot about the Twilight Zone marathon so I only caught a few episodes in the afternoon before heading out to the fireworks display which is like two blocks away from me down at the riverfront. I went to my special spot and it was crowded as fuck. I even overheard some dude talking on the phone saying that he's going to invite other people to the spot and set up shop earlier with a bbq and shit. I'm like come on. When you find somewhere special you don't flap your gums and tell everyone! Gah, I really hate Newsburgh sometimes.
I don't know what happened on Friday during the day but I remember Friday night I had too many appliances running and I ended up losing power. I couldn't figure out what happened and how to fix it. I checked the breakers but that didn't work at all. So I called up the Electric Company and asked them to send someone out to check on it. I thought it had something to do with the wattage cap that they put on a few months ago. I also happened to have paid the bill that same day so I know that wasn't the reason I had no power. The lady told me they would send someone over so I turned on the light in my bedroom and decided to take a nap hoping to wake up with the light shining on me. I woke up from my nap in the dark and decided that I wasn't going to spend the night in my 3rd fl apt with no power in this kind of heat. I called up a friend of mines and asked her if I could spend the night with her. She said okay and I packed up some stuff and headed on over. I attempted to sleep in her old roommates room but it is horrible trying to sleep in an unfamiliar bed. I ended up only getting two hours of sleep that night. I felt like Goldilocks only I didn't have two other options to try out before finding my right fit. Lucky punk!
I came home to my powerless apartment Saturday morning and called up the Electric Company to find out what happened. They told me it was an internal problem and that I need to call my landlord. I called up my landlord and he started bitching at me for calling the Electric Company first. I'm thinking to myself like what? Just send someone out damn. I didn't know and I exhausted all my options. So the guy gets here and does almost everything that I have done and checked. He then decides to go down to the basement but before he heads down there, I tell him that only the gas breaker is down there. A few seconds later the power is back and he tells me that there is an extra breaker on the other side of the wall that I've never seen before. I could have had my power back on last night but I had NO idea! I went to my five hour pre-licsencing course which was pretty fun except for the part where the instructor decided to show accident footage. It felt like I was in Clockwork Orange getting brainwashed by all the images being shown. I wanted to bust out laughing on numerous occasions but I would have stood out so badly because everyone else around me was gasping and having a hard time holding down their lunch. The tip of the iceberg came when he popped in a dvd that was playing REM's Everybody Hurts while showing car crash accidents. It was so hilarious! I couldn't believe I held in my laughter. I was smiling pretty damn often though. It was kind of weird being in that course with all of the teens but it's kind of expected. I was probably the second oldest person in there but I looked like a college age kid. There were mostly teens and a few college age people so I sort of fit in looks wise anyways. I love the whole "black doesn't crack" phase that I'm going through.
Sunday rolls around and I just want to do as little as possible and try to catch up on all the sleep that I missed out on. I end up sleeping any and everywhere. I dozed off at my desk, I dozed off watching a tv show in my living room. I barely stumbled back into bed and took a nap. As I'm typing this I feel another nap coming on as well. All in all , it was a good holiday weekend and I enjoyed everything that I did for the most part.
