Liquid diet night 7

Jan 09, 2015 00:15

We have been oddly lucky about a few things so far, like in a previous post when Brad and I found out about the 3 shake limit just before we had a 4th shake for the day. Two more recent examples: Brad asked the dietician if Aleve was fine to take for pain during the 10 day diet, she said yes and he took some, then (next day or 2) the registration nurse calls to give Brad pre op instructions, Aleve is not to be taken within 7 days of the surgery...they day he took it was 8 days from surgery so he was safe. Last night we ran out of cottage cheese. Brad and I were going to go get his EKG done at 8 and then stop at Meijer on the way home to pick some up. He decided to let me sleep in and then do some laundry while he got the EKG, then he forgot to stop at Meijer on the way home. We decided to stop and pick it up after class, during the class they gave us an updated 10 day diet plan where it says you can not have the veggies or cottage cheese the 5 days before surgery. Our previous sheet said 3 days and only mentioned the veggies. So if we would not have ran out of cottage cheese last night, he would have had some this morning and today is the first day he was not allowed to have any.

I am very proud to say that at the end of day 7 Brad has already lost 12 pounds!!!

I on the other hand, while eating nearly exactly the same thing (only difference being on a few days he missed a cottage cheese and I missed a shake, but nutritionally they are pretty close) have lost 4 measly pounds...FOUR D: To be fair I did have to pee like a racehorse and I am full swing menstrual right now... but even with those things considered FOUR FRIGGIN POUNDS!!! We did get the bed put back together and out of the living room so I can get to the exorcise bike now, and I have 19 more days on this diet, but man what a blow. Don't get me wrong I am super happy for Brad he is working very hard at this and deserves the success. I knew my loss was not going to be as much as his, but a third? Ug. Since my actual 10 days has not started yet that is not what they are putting down for my official weigh in, I'll get weighed again when Brad is in for his first post op apt.

Anyway, we did get a little hungry today but nothing unmanageable. I am still on the cottage cheese and veggies but until Brad's surgery I am going to try to eat those things while he is at work since he can't have them now. We also picked up the powdered milk which can be added to the shakes to add extra protein (the shakes will still be mixed with milk, then the milk powder will be added) This weekend we are both working on getting the house surgery ready, including getting any shopping done and making sure all of Brad's pajamas are clean because he will be living in them for a little while. Were going to give everything a cleaning too just to minimize bacteria on surfaces.
