ERICA! i hate to imply that you're the best one to go to for this advice, but you are. :/
ben took two of our cats to the vet yesterday -- one had a big ugly chunk of fur missing from his head (friday night) so i wanted him to go to the vet to see if we should put something on it to keep it from getting infected. (just so i'm not a bad cat mom, he was totally acting normal like nothing was wrong.. no whimpering, nothing -- i just wanted to make sure he was okay.) and the second cat to get neutered.
they charged us over 400 dollars for the whole thing.
when we adopted both cats at the same time, they were 45 dollars a piece, 25 of which was half of the neuter fee, and the other half we would be charged when we actually got them neutered. so the neuter should've only cost 25 bucks. it cost 175. then there's various other costs of 20-50 dollars which i probably wouldn't fight. (rabies vacc, FVRCP [whatever the fuck that is]) HOLY CRAP! the vet said that we were supposed to call the animal shelter for the money back, and then the animal shelter said that this clinic wasn't on their list. IT MOST CERTAINLY IS, ON THE WEBSITE.
WHO do i bitch at for this? do i call the doctor for misrepresenting himself as part of the shelter's lower-cost care program if they say he is no longer on the list? or do i go after the shelter for not updating their list of lower-cost care providers?
FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS for what i expected to cost like, no more than 50. D:!!!!!11111oneone one TO THE MAX.
(and it's already paid in full. yeah, that really sucks.)
