my year in books

Dec 30, 2010 15:30

I may not be too brilliant at writing down all that happens in my life, but I never forget to write down my books for the year in my little book diary.

Here's my list for 2010:

+ The Hound of the Baskervilles, Arthur Conan Doyle
+ Don't Tell Me The Truth About Love, Dan Rhodes
+ Cross Stitch, Diana Gabaldon
+ Unseen Academicals, Terry Pratchett ( Read more... )

books, books read in 2010

Methinks I should do this next year. I read so much, but seldom keep track of it, as I usually return the books to their owners once they're done. (If you get a chance, though, have a look for a book called Houdini Girl. I couldn't put it down)

*Takes notes* Thanks for the rec. :)

Oh, and you should absolutely keep a reading diary if you can! I only note down titles, author, dates and a little rating, but I love looking back and remembering what I read, and if I should read more of it. And also, I'm totally nosy.

I was just thinking to myself that I hadn't read that many new books. Then I remembered that I've done the Waterstones 3 for 2 more than 3 times in the last year, plus read every book which wasn't cheesy romantic tat on the book shelf at work (Which isn't always a good thing. Yay contrived vengeance-for-murdered-child-not-inspired-at-all-by-Bulger novel! Set in Edinburgh no less! With the equivalent of Venables grown into a surgeon multilating homeless people to sell their organs on the black market. While an intrepid lawyer who is the daughter of a BDSM Madame and a High Court Judge tries to solve the case!)

I really liked Shadow of the Wind but found it a struggle sometimes..

I haven't actually finished reading Shadow of the Wind, but I've not had any troubles with it yet. What are you reading at the moment? :)

I found the story sagged a little around the middle - but that might just have been me!

I'm currently reading 'Year of the Flood' by Margaret Atwood. It's the follow-up (sort of...) of Oryx and Crake. I've read it before but it's very good.

I was very very lucky and Phil got me a Kindle for Christmas. I have also been buying and reading the Famous Five :D

Oooh, I love Witch Child! Your list is inspiring. :-) I really want to try to keep track of all the books I read this year. I'm not sure if you know about Goodreads, but it is a fun tool for tracking what you have read, too. I just need to remember to use it more!

Thank you! :)

I don't usually read much YA lit, not because I don't want to, but because there's simply so much out there! Witch Child was a great read, and I liked that it didn't tie up everything too neatly.

Not a huge amount? Seriously? My list is probably half that and consists mostly of Dresden Files and Harry Potter (decided to re-read before the last two movies!). *hangs head in shame*

Explains why you've not had time to write though! *g*

Hey, no head hanging here! I keep meaning to catch up with Dresden, but I just haven't bought them yet - I may have a mass splurge later on though. :)

As for a lot - this really isn't too long a list for me, to be honest. I used to read like a woman posessed until I hit uni, and then my casual reading pace slowed a lot. When I was about 16 I used to get through several books a week. I have no idea how I did it, looking back...!
