Long time, no see!

But that will change now, I promise. I now have internet at home again, so no more 'one hour only' or mom wanting to spend forever on her games at the coffee shop.
Quite a bit has happened.
I have a new general manager, after my old one resigned - still don't know what to think of the new guy, except that I loved to old one and miss him.
My first dental appointment was the morning after my brothers wedding (which went off without a hitch, btw). That was an evaluation, in the first week of october. Oct 22, I got a temp filling - then on the 31st started to feel extreme pain from anything touching that tooth. I had already noted that the tooth was more sensitive to cold, and newly sensitive to heat. Got in the clinic on Nov 9 - reshaped the filling and that helped heaps but didn't stop it. That appt was with someone else. Went for sched appt on the 17th, and my appointed student dentist was worried and didn't want to wait till January to do the root canal, not when I could hardly drink water at the end of a long shift. So he worked me in on the 24th for the root canal - hurts a bit, but the worst part is that I'm lactose-intolerant.
Yes, that is a bit of a weird sentence.
When the procedure was over, the student dentist reeled off advice for pain killers for the next few days - ibuprofen - and advised that I take the first dose before te novocaine wore off. Well, all the ibuprofen we have at home was expired, i already knew that, and my ride was running late. So I walked to the nearest pharmacy - which doesn't carry soymilk. And I was told to eat nothing for several hours.
So I took the pills on a empty stomach and ate only a bowl of oatmeal for the second dose.
Caught up with me an hour ago and I couldn't stand up straight till i ate quite a bit more.

I think there is a lesson to learn here - the only one I can come up with is that cavities have unforeseeable consequences.
Still on soft foods for two weeks - till he does the permanent filling, so my diet for thanksgiving is the same as the last three weeks. Soy yogurt, soup, and anything I have the patience to cut and/or tear up till i can chew with just molars.
On plus side - while Halloween and Turkey day are screwed, and X-mas is not guaranteed, I no longer get sharp tooth pain from things like my dogs barking. Sore swollen gums and bland diet are not going to make me lose my temper with my dogs. I'm glad I won't be that horrible irritated person all winter.
I'll be back soon.

brother, work, life - in general, teeth
