Well, that's it. We're dead.

Hurricane Rita shifted. It is now aimed almost dead-on at Houston.

As of the time of this posting, all roads out of Houston are parking lots. Last night (around midnight) it took 7 hours for my friend Kate to get from Sugar Land to Sealy, a distance of 50 miles. It is worse, now. If we get on the road...

But if we stay...

There's airplanes and helicopters flying over almost constantly.

I have a feeling that in 24 hours... no one will be moving. Half of my friends are staying, as of last night. I hope a few more of them will try to leave by today.

Edit: Well, if it keeps on moving, Houston'll get the least of the storm, and we'll stay. At this rate, we'll probably end up staying anyway... but we were evacuating east, and now the storm is headed eastward.

And yes, I do feel that mother nature seems to be having a particularly bad episode of PMS. Two major storms within the same general area within a month? Jeebus.

personal, oh noes, rl
