Link-heavy post!
So, last night Jai and I were on the guest list to go see a screening of REPO! The Genetic Opera, which we were uber excited for. It's a new rock opera/movie musical about how in the future human organs are in high demand after an epidemic of organ failures. A company called Geneco will sell you new organs, but if you are late on your payment, they can repossess it. Fucked up! It's directed by the same guy who directed Saw 2, 3, and 4. I had listened to parts of the soundtrack online and loved it. And some big names are in it. Alexa Vega, the little latina girl from Spy Kids, is legal, gothed out, and HOT with a pretty nice voice in the movie. Also in the film are Anthony Stewart Head, Sarah Brightman whose babies I'd like to have, Paris Hilton (who I cant stand but I hear she gets her face ripped off in the movie), fucking Ogre from Skinny Puppy, Bill Moseley, Paul Sorvino, and Terrance Zdunich whose character's babies I'd like to have - he looks fucking beautiful, and he also co-wrote the movie. There's also a smallish part played by Joan Jett!! She's in that video of Alexa Vega up there, and she looks fucking hot. UGH! The visuals are just intense and fucking orgasmic. I'm so excited to see this movie.
ANYWAY, now that I'm done promoting, point of this was we missed our bus by minutes (we saw it pass), and after chasing around 2 different buses we finally caught one after the movie had already started. We decided to go into the city anyway and at least catch the end and do something rather than go home feeling pissy that we didn't make it.
As it turned out, we made it to the last 10 minutes or so of the movie. Huge bummer, but for the record, those last ten minutes are amazing - in that short span, Alexa Vega's voice gave me goosebumps (and a hard-on), and so did Terrance Zdunich's. Definitely my kind of movie. I cannot wait to see it again, and Lions Gate had better put it out in theaters or I will cry. (apparently they may only put it in select theaters in major cities and then put it right to DVD. WTF?!)
We ended up running into Mad Man Mike and Sarah from the NYC cast at the screening and they both said it was amazing - even Paris Hilton was apparently good. (She pretty much plays herself - a narcissistic ditz who's addicted to surgery/painkillers, and if you ignore her face, she's actually - dare i say it - hot.) We walked to their train with them and then Jai and I walked around, got some food, walked around a porn store, and caught a bus home around midnight. It sucked that we missed almost all of the movie, but it sure as hell left me wanting more, and I was happy to just get out of the house, spend some time with Jai, relax and not think about my home/money situation for a night.
Also, Nightmare Revisited is fucking awesome!!!!!! My favorite tracks: Overture by DeVotchKa, This Is Halloween by Marilyn Manson, Town Meeting Song by The Polyphonic Spree, Kidnap The Sandy Claws by Korn, Making Christmas by Rise Against, and the Finale by Shiny Toy Guns. I still haven't found the bonus track of Oogie Boogie's Song by Tiger Army. My only complaint is that All American Rejects (they don't deserve a link) fucking BUTCHERED Jack's Lament, my favorite song from the movie. Bastards!!
Nightmare reminds me of my childhood. I love this fucking movie. :)
