Drabble - War Concert

Yet another drabble not related to the chapter, as part of my simspiration goal.  Can be considered a spoiler, as it takes place in the future.  I'm undecided as to whether or not it will actually feature in a future chapter.  Not my best work by far, but it did help me get to know Alice a little better.

Awww...Alice... you next chapter or two are going to break my heart aren't they? I'm sad that Nick hasn't ever had the chance to hear his Mom sing and it must be especially hard for Alice to watch Cindy and James be cuddly when she doesn't have anyone to cuddle.

:( You have a few more good chapters before we get to the war (it won't start until Nicky is in his senior year of college). But if there's not some heartbreak, I'm not doing it right.

No, Nicky never got to see his mom perform. And it is VERY hard for Alice to see a snuggly couple when she doesn't have someone to snuggle herself.

Poor Alice. Still keeping fingers crossed that Nick makes it back okay. I never realized Nick hadn't ever heard his mother sing.

Poor Alice indeed. Nicky's heard her sing (goodness knows her voice was probably worn out singing lullabies to the twins), but never in a public setting. I'm sure James has told him about how mesmerizing Cindy was onstage, but Nicky's never seen that side of his mother. I suppose I should have made that a little clearer.
