For some reason, this week feels both longer and shorter than it actually was. I can't well explain why or how, but there it is. In any case, I'm
taking this article to heart and very much looking forward to doing some gardening this weekend. Hopefully the weather will continue to cooperate and I'll be able to sustain my enthusiasm long enough to actually do it....
In other news, my annual review was yesterday. I think it went well; there were no negatives, at least, and I was able to have a good, open conversation with my boss about a few professional development things that have been slowly-growing issues. It's nothing that's particularly wrong, but there are some ways in which a few things I'm affected by are introducing or may introduce significant changes in organizational culture, so I'm being proactive. Amusingly, I have no idea what the actual cost-of-living adjustment was this year, if there was one, because he didn't have the paperwork part of the review ready. I should find out next week.
Next up on my personal to-do list: fiction writing. I have three or four separate things in varying stages of draft, and I'd like to make progress on them before sheer inertia weighs me down. You know?
One thing I have been doing in the evenings to unwind from the day is spending about an hour advancing through games on the Wii. It's been so long since I carved out time for console gaming, and I am surprised to find how much I've missed it. Right now I'm making my way through Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, mostly because it was on sale for $3.50 at GameStop and because I have fond memories of playing (and winning) the earliest PC version of it that was ever available. I'm enjoying it quite a lot, even the ridiculous parts.
I think soon I'll have to pick up a series-3 console, whether the PS3 or Xbox 360, and get my hands on games that I've been interested in for a long while. Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and Skyrim are among them. I know several of you game - any recommendations for me?
(Okay, back to work for me. It's not the weekend yet!)
