Yuletide Letter
Dear Yuletide Writer:
First, let me apologize profusely for the delay in posting this letter! That said, please also know that this is truly more a set of guidelines than anything else. Whatever you choose to write, whatever tale you are moved to tell, I am sure that I will thoroughly enjoy it. Part of the delight of the Yuletide exchange is seeing anything written in my cherished uncommon fandoms, no matter what it is!
So no pressure, no worries, and no stress. Enjoy yourself telling a story, and I am sure I will enjoy reading it.
Now, that said, you're reading this to glean information about my interests in fic, and so....
I love seeing true-to-canon-or-character backstory or "unknown" interactions. I like asking "what if," or "what happened before we knew them," or "why does Character X do this? What does it stem from?" and finding bits and pieces of the answers to those questions in a story setting. Added character depth and missing scenes are wonderful, fantastic things.
I tend to prefer canonical relationships to non-canonical ones. I read and enjoy gen, het, and slash all three (I include both male/male and female/female in my slash definition, btw), and will read stories of all ratings, although I admit I am less likely to seek out NC-17 equivalent fic than other ratings.
I love stories that are actual tales; I love character introspectives; and I love "five things" fics.

Barbara Hambly - The Darwath Series
I would love to see more backstory for any (or all, or any combination or subset) of the characters I have listed -- or pretty much any of the others in the series as well, but these are my top choices. Childhood, young adult, or adult-pre-series tales would make me very happy!
Independence Day (1996 movie)
How did they meet? How did their friendship (or relationship, or both) develop?
Alien Series (films)
I would love to see either a character introspective, a background story, or an unexpected encounter between/with any of the listed characters!
