new baby yay! more work... um, yay?

coworker/scarlett's best friend/fern's former schoolmate amy just had a baby on friday (so for those of you who've seen recent facebook status updates, that's what i was referring to). this is quite possibly the closest i've ever come to pregnancy. i mean, my aunt has had two kids in the last few years and my cousin's new wife had a kid earlier this year, but that's all distant. i see them once a year and that's all. i mostly heard of their pregnancy and then eventually saw the kid the following christmas.

this is a little more perplexing, what with me sitting in the box across from amy, and us working together quite frequently. it also brought me insight into the real world of pregnancy protocol. for example, i didn't realize they scheduled when babies were born now. that seems more frightening to me than spontaneous water breakage. i mean, you have a completely accurate countdown to birth-day oppose to it being a sorta surprise. i still can't quite wrap my head around it. not to mention it really screws up the whole "office pool" lotto thing.

anyway, i'm covering her department(s) until she comes back in february. yet still, i have time to blog/read the nytimes/ponder whether to buy a standing mixer after christmas/etc. maybe everyone is on vacation...

fern and i found our next apartment. it's in the same complex we're in now, but twice as big for $240 a month more. two bedrooms, a study with built in bookshelves, a ginormous living/dining area that our new tv will actually fit in without swallowing the room, and quite possibly the best. kitchen. EVA! (with room for a standing mixer plus all our other kitchen gadgets currently cluttering our relatively mid-size kitchen - see earlier reference to pondering) i think we're moving in on jan. 3 (since it's the same complex, it's not considered breaking a lease), but there's still a few more details to work out, such as are we expected to pay a full month's rent on both apartments? 'cause that's so not happening...

is supernatural back on yet?
