Just a thought

Rhiamon stood before the council, her eyes lowered in penitence, though her clenched fists and gritted teeth belied the posture. Richard Giles, Quentin Travers, and Lydia Reynolds stood in judgement of her. And only one man stood in her defense. Rupert had traveled at great expense and lost several days business to be here and yet he would not allow her to go on trail alone.

"You stand accused of betraying this council, consorting with the enemy, giving information to said enemy resulting in the death of 4 slayers and their watchers. Do you have anything to say in your defense?" Richards voice was thick with pleasure. He would enjoy watching her burn.

"I have never betrayed the council, it was the council who betrayed me. The *enemy*" she spat the word, "was a harmless flock of wood nymphs and the demon defending them. And yes I did give them information. Information *you* failed to recognize when I brought it before you! Of Slayers and Watchers betraying the covenant with the ancients and killing the innocents! They were caught by their own Karma and I refuse to be condemned for aiding innocents!"

Rupert nodded his head in agreement and stepped forward. "You yourselves have sworn that the creatures in the Shire were to be protected not harmed. How can you punish this girl for doing what you should have done yourselves?!"

Travers' smirked "Rupert you have no more say in this court then the demons you covet. You were dismissed or have your forgotten? Keep this up and you will share her fate."

Lydia leaned forward, eager for the next words that fell from Richards lips. "This matter has been settled. On the count of treason you have been judges guilty by the council. And by the old laws within you will be burns at the stake tonight. Guards, take her away."

For the first time terror showed on Rhia's face, showing her to be far younger then assumed at first glance. Barely 17. The guards took hold of the girls arms and she began to sob, struggling against them. She cast a desperate look at Ruperts agonized face as they dragged her away. "Don't let them do this!" she begged.

Rupert turned to the council with rage and pain on his face that forced them to take a step back.

Her last words as she was forced through the door ricocheting through his head. "Please don't let them kill me daddy!"
