My grandma is staying with my family for about two weeks, or basically until she can use her right arm well enough to do everything on her own.

Last week my grandma slipped and fell on the ice in her backyard and broke her right arm almost where the bone meets the socket of her shoulder. When the doctors went in to plate and pin it together they realized she shattered it, and decided replacing it would be better.

So now my family is taking care of her with my aunts and uncles coming every night well except for my aunt marianne, but thats not something new. Her excuse is going to be her kids had places they needed to be, and such and such. Which is a load of bull shit because everyone else who is coming to help my family has kids and they have places they need to be as well. My mom and dad can only do so much by themselves even when matt and I are here because some stuff like, helping my grandma go to the bathroom is something that she is only comfortable with my mom or her kids helping her. Or changing her clothes, anything that involves taking/putting on clothes. Going up and down the stairs, doing anything that would require us to be prepared to catch her if she fell, my brother and i cant do because Im not strong enough, if my grandma lost her balance on the stairs and fell backwards, yeah I could catch her, but then we would both be tumbling down the stairs. I dont have much upper body strength, its all in my legs, so Im not much help besides being a brace to help my grandma get up and sit down in chairs.

and the worse part about the entire thing is that my grandma thought she was going to be a burden and wanted to go into a nursing home until she was able to do everything on her own. Which i think is ridiculous, I love having my grandma at my house and i dont mind her being here at all. Yeah I have to get up earlier and pay attention to what im doing so just in case she calls me or my mom. I have to make breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and i have to be prepared to do just about anything, but i dont mind it at all.

I think the only one getting the small end of the stick is my puppy Riley. She has to be in her cage alot because she is 6 months old and a ball of energy so she runs around and we dont want her accidentally hurting my grandma or jumping on her healing arm. But Riley is sleeping alot anyway so i think its okay. I will make it up to her one of these days when its warmer and take her for a really long walk, but right now its too cold for her feet and nose.
