Good luck with Theory! That was the single hardest part of my (brief) attempt at being a music major, and what ultimately convinced me it wasn't the right path for me. Also made me appreciate the hard work that true musicians put into their craft.
Thanks! I had a sort of "intro to theory" class last semester, and liked it well enough (except for MacGAMUT. I HATE MACGAMUT.) My eventual goal is to be able to write music and write it well, so theory has become really important, even if some of the more technical aspects sometimes baffle me...but now I have a percussionist roommate to puzzle out those things with me. Yay!
Percussionists are awesome--I dated one for like two months last year.
The technical parts of composition can get really weird, and that's what killed me. That rule about not using parallel fifths? Could not wrap my head around it. Also, I'm a little dyslexic, which made things even more interesting, heh.
