Kitten Massage

Sep 14, 2010 15:25

Okay, how's this for surreal and strange: I just had Dante climb up behind me onto the pillows, and move half way up my back, to start kneading my shoulders. Kitten massage? o.O He kept it up for several minutes too.

Now he's back in my lap, kneading my computer. Apparently it also needs a kitten massage. He's been a real cutie today, after an earlier mishap. I've taken to letting the kittens have free range of the apartment after Brian leaves for work--even though I'm not up yet. Part of the reason is that I don't want them cooped up for the whole day. And the other is that I think it'll encourage me to get up earlier, since they will only sleep with me for so long before it's PLAY TIME again. We do lock them out during the night. They just get too active around the 3:00am to 5:00am time. It's natural, so rather than try to prevent it, we just make it a moot factor. Also, even with their regular baths and my regular vacuums/dusting sessions, there's still allergic reactions to consider, and nighttime means that the kittens are away. They do miss us though, which is sad. They've taken to sleeping right outside our door. Yesterday, they even piled up their toys outside the door, in an attempt to get our favor. (AW. DANTE JUST SIGHED. SO CUTE!!! AAAHHH!!!) And when I opened it up for their free range time, they got the toys we'd put up on the chairs to dangle for them off the chairs, and brought them into the room (each carried one) so I'd play with them. Ridiculously cute.

They've learned "Come" pretty well so far. They will come to me, even if they're busy doing something else (like sneaking into the closet! No no!). "Sit" is still hit or miss. I'm not sure they've paired it as well as they have "Come." But, still, they do respond to "Sit" more than half the time, so that's better than just coincidence.

I'm about to do a Power Study of kana and kanji for the next two hours. I call it a Power Study because I'm literally not going to do anything else for the next two hours. I get potty breaks and very short tea breaks, but that's it. No phone, no Phishbook, no LJ, no nothing. The only things I'm allowed to do online is look up example words of the kanji. "Denshi Jisho" is the only site I'm allowed to go on really. (Leah--I forgot to mention this excellent resource! http://jisho.org/ It's really awesome, especially after you master the kana, or even during. It takes off the crutch of romaji. And trust me, it IS a crutch you want to cast aside. The key to using it in a practical way is to ALWAYS look for the "common usage" note, otherwise you may be looking at an irregular kanji usage. And in those cases, you will almost always see the furigana written in on the side, so it's not necessary to memorize those).

So, here I go! Kanji kanji kanji!
