RP Log: Mathiu & Lorelai
It was evening so the tavern was still rather well lit and the usual faces scarce. Mathiu honestly had no intention of dating anyone--especially given his last experience--but knew it would be wrong to stand the lady up.
Mathiu: *finds a seat at his favorite table and waits*
Lorelai: *slowly walks in and takes a look around*
Mathiu: *noticing the woman, rises politely* It's been awhile, Lorelai. Are you here for a "drinking contest?"
Lorelai: *walks over to Mathiu* Oh, Mathiu, Yes. I wouldn't have expected you to join in on Hervey's blind date set up.
Mathiu: *pulls out the chair next to him for her* In truth, I didn't. Someone likely put my name in as a joke, but if doing so gives me the opportunity to have a few drinks with you, then it is a welcome prank.
Lorelai: * sits down* Ah, Thank you. I'm glad I got you as a date too... I was worried I'd have someone like... Nash or something.
Mathiu: *smiles at her as he reclaims his seat* So how have things been since...well...since last I saw you?
Lorelai: *leans back on the chair a bit* It has been a while, hasn't it? I guess things haven't really changed... I haven't done anything that exciting since I came here though. How about yourself?
Mathiu: *shakes his head* Not really. I've been acting as the castle doctor. But other than that...would you care for a drink?
Lorelai: *hesitates a bit* Okay... but only a little bit.
Mathiu: *bowed his head* Rest assured, I have no desire to drink you under the table as was suggested by Hervey's note. What would you like?
Lorelai: *thinks a bit* I don't know... I don't drink much. Why don't you choose something for me? Nothing too strong though.
Mathiu: *goes to the bar and returns with two glasses and places a wine glass in front of her* A nice merlot for you and a Scotch for me.
Lorelai: Thank you. *picks up the wine glass and takes a small sip* Do you visit the tavern often?
Mathiu: Once in awhile...more than I probably should, I admit. *smiles*
Lorelai: I see. *smiles back*
Mathiu: Do you have any plans while you're here?
Lorelai: Actually, I came here so I could study the Sindar ruins by this area. But since I got settled down, I've been putting it off.
Mathiu: *sips his Scotch* Anything in particular that you're looking for?
Lorelai: Hmm... I guess I'm just looking for anything. I can never imagine what I find. That's the thrill of it. *laughs*
Mathiu: *nods* Indeed. If you happen to come across some information from the ancients on medicine, would you share it with me?
Lorelai: Of course. What's the use of information if not share it, right?
Mathiu: *nods* Have you been to the Southern Islands? I was able to vacation there.
Lorelai: I've been there once, but not long enough to really see anything interesting. How was it?
Mathiu: Beautiful. I've never seen water so clear.
Lorelai: Ah... Did you do anything fun there?
Mathiu: I went fishing.
Lorelai: *smiles* That's nice.
Mathiu: What do you like to do in your free time? I fish and I draw.
Lorelai: I never imagined you as an artist. I'd love to see your artwork someday. As for myself, I occasionally read and experiment with new types of combat.
Mathiu: *scratched the back of his neck nervously* Ah, perhaps I'll show you someday. What sort of books do you like?
Lorelai: *thinks* I guess... most of the books I read... are history books. It's not that fun now that I think about it.
Mathiu: Well, if you like history I guess it would be fun. I'm sure my medical texts would bore some but I enjoy them.
Mathiu: So, when did you decide to become a doctor?
Mathiu: Well, before the war I was living in Seika and the people there sort of regarded me as the local medic. I learned field medicine when I was in the Imperial Army and so I just studied it more when I was in exile. When I came to Budehuc...they needed a doctor so I offered my services.
Lorelai: Impressive. I heard working with medicine is difficult.
Mathiu: It has some trying moments, definitely. Though, I'm sure treasure hunting does as well.
Lorelai: I can't argue with you on that one. *laughs*
Mathiu: *glancing around* There are many interesting people in this castle.
Lorelai: *nods* Yea, this place is pretty lively. How long has it been since you came to this castle?
Mathiu: Nearly a year now. Christmas time is especially lively, even if the weather is colder than Toran.
Lorelai: Ah. I'd love to see Christmas here.
Mathiu: It's beautiful...and so is the fall. I really like the crisp air.
Lorelai: It's almost fall too. I really hope it cools down, it's been pretty hot around here.
Mathiu: *nodded* I feel like I have failed you as a date. Our discussion has turned to the weather. *smiles*
Lorelai: It's alright, I'm having alot of fun. In my opinion, this is better than what Hervey planned for us to do on our date.
Mathiu: *raises his glass before taking a sip* Here's to that.
Lorelai: *smiles and raises her glass also*
Mathiu: *touches his glass to hers* I suppose I should be going, but if you would like to have dinner sometime...I've been told that I make a decent fish dish.
Lorelai: It's been nice chatting with you, and I'd love to join you for dinner one of these days.
Mathiu: *stands up* See you, then. And take care
