(no subject)

I said I'd type today, so I am.

Keep up here, I've got a few ideas in my head that I'll talk about today/yesterday.

Ok, went to the exhibit at the museum of science and industry two days ago "body worlds" where the guy plasticized people that were dead. Now I understand the "contributions" to science with this exhibit, but I'm a little concerned. I also understand that the people on display in this exhibit agreed to it before they died, but it's still not right. What I don't get is how one human being could EVEN THINK about doing something like this to another human being, but I guess that was between them. I just don't think it's right.
The one and only thing that I learned while I was in there was that people aren't much different. There were lots of quotes around the exhibit from all kinds of people. They talked about man, death, and life. I thought about a few of them, and I do know more than ever that humans are not gods, nor are they animals, they are just humans; and that's all that makes us the same. In almost all other regards everyone is different. They may be made up of the same things, but that is one of the only things in common. Going through that exhibit really made me think about life, and going through the exhibit made me value it. I never really thought one way or another about it, and seeing people dehumanized into nothing but inanimate statues, well, should make you think about it. The whole time inside I kept thinking that these were real people, someone who could have been talking no more that a few hours ago. And again I know that they chose to do it, but it's beyond my comprehension why anyone would want to give themselves to be shown to the rest of the world like that. To me it's on the same level as the animals that we dissect in biology class. I'm sorry, but I want to be buried in a grave with all of me, or as much of me that is left, in there. I wish other people could go into that exhibit and come out thinking "wow, they were actual people, who led a life not so different from mine. It really won't last." I know I'm kind of stumbling over my words, but I'm so frustrated with people, which will bring me to my next point (with an introduction).

While in the exhibit there were the quotes that I was talking about, and they were all really good. But one caught my eye, I'm sorry I don't remember it, but it was said by a philosopher named Seneca. I thought about how there were many philosophers in old times, and I thought about what happened to them. They're still here, but not in a complete way. Movies and music are the big places to find some philosophy in. I know people who can quote good lines from movies, or even songs, but it's not the same. I could be being picky, but when I think of a singer or an actor saying anything, it's not to pass on wisdom or knowledge; it's to look good, or to sell CD's. A philosopher thought, and that was his job. To gain knowledge that was logical, and true. Yes, I know celebrities come up with some good things sometimes, but it's not whole. What happened to philosophers? Is it that people now are so busy to think anymore? Are people as a whole getting dumber? Maybe they just aren't learning anything, maybe they have no where to start? Whatever the reason, it is pretty sad. Besides the fact that celebrities get way more attention then they need, most of them are not the brightest people, so how can you trust anything they say?
