Voting Rules: Positives and Negatives
I dislike the negative aspect of LIMS contests, but because this is a LIMS contest, the concept is unavoidable. We can choose to be constructive or rude in these and I choose to run a LIMS that is constructive. Rudeness will be unacceptable. I may choose to reword if I find the critique too scathing. But I will keep it fair-minded.
After all, many of us enter these to better ourselves as artists and the feedback we receive is important.
Keep It Technical.
We're voting for technical reasons. If blue isn't your favorite color, that isn't the correct reason to vote off an icon. We're looking for quality, composition, style, crop, color usage, text, font and anything else that comes to mind when you look at the BUILD of an icon. Don't simply disregard something that doesn't "look like it was changed much." Why? Because sometimes, less is more.
DO NOT BE RUDE.
Again, rudeness will not be tolerated. If you're having a bad day, come back and vote later. Voters must, at all times, be unbias and should look at the icons when in a calm and clear minded mood.
Negative AND positives.
You will be asked to vote off icons, but we aren't going to go with the usual "vote [here], comment why [here]". When you point out what's "wrong" with an icon (in your opinion!) you will also be asked to point out at least one thing that's right. No icons are without positive points.
These are opinions.
Try not to take this personally. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and while someone might not like your icons someone else somewhere else will. If you can't take creative critisism with a level head, or without being emotionally hurt, I respectfully recommend you don't take a turn in a LIMS contest.
Come-Back Round:
Those who are allowed back will not have the tickets they had when they were eliminated. While I'm really happy to welcome back those who win this challenge, I do think there should be some penalty for having been eliminated once (aka: no skips).
The contest will take place in the dead-middle of the round (so there will be two challenges: one for the members, one for the eliminated). I feel that putting it in too late would be unfair to others who had spent most of the contest escaping elimination.
There will be only one comeback challenge per round with a max of 3 people allowed back. Any ties will be broken to ensure this.
So that we make sure we're welcoming back the most interested contestants (and make sure it isn't just a one-picture bad day) there will be 2 icons to make for the comeback challenge using 2 different screencaps.
Also, I think it's important to note that said comeback challenge will only be for those who were eliminated. Those disqualified for not entering and not having a skip, or those who hadn't signed up in the first place, will not be invited to this challenge simply because they really haven't participated in the contest at all.
