Before I begin on this long entry I'd like to wish a happy belated birthday to
goldeagleradar. I hope you had a good day!
I've got to make it a point to try and update more. Although once or twice a week is better than nothing, I suppose.
I'm off from the internship today, as I decided to switch my hours around. Since peak season at UPS is coming up I'll be working double shifts on Monday mornings and afternoons now. The middle of the week will be occupied with work at Philadelphia Weekly, while I'll probably do a final double on either Thursday or Friday night. By the end of the week, I usually find myself wishing that I was on vacation and that during that vacation it felt like a nice summer day. It would be like that time I didn't go to work and went to a water park instead. (Except I wouldn't have lost my favorite pair of sun glasses on one of the rides.)
Yeah, it would be something like this minus the surfing.
On Saturday I finally managed to get out of the house to visit Aaron, while Tyrone stopped over after his night job. We ended up playing video games until nearly 1am. I wasn't interested until King of Fighters 2006 was finally put on. Since I don't play many SNK games, I knew almost none of the characters on the roster, though it helps that you can ask a friend (Ty) who has played WAY too many SNK, Capcom, and other video games in general. Because the
Metal Slug series is one of the few SNK games that I have played in the past, I had to play as Fio a few times. (Though in Metal Slug I usually go with Marco for some reason.) Either way you can't beat a fighter who uses a machine gun, bombs and an anchor to fight with. (Until Mr. Karate comes out, ugh.)

It was then that I decided that my PS2 needed more fighting games, since the d-pad feels way better than the GameCube's horrible one. Since the games that I want are still a bit pricey, it will probably be a slow process. Right now I do have KoF 2006 on the way as well as Soul Caliber 2, since I do have Soul Caliber on the Dreamcast.
I also received part one of Buso Renkin on DVD from Aaron as a late graduation gift. He was originally going to buy it for me at Otakon, but we decided that local stores around here had better prices. Luckily the timing was late, since part 2 of Buso Renkin is due out on Tuesday and I might pick it up before the month is out. Though I just saw a copy of BLEACH season 1 for under $30 with shipping and couldn't pass up on it. Now, I'm broke again. About a week ago I ended up also getting the
Phoenix Wright manga (The Official Case Files) which is sitting on my shelf. I'll have things to read, watch and review for
Damage Control for quite some time. Speaking of which, I finally managed to create a LiveJournal syndication for DC. If you're interested in reading the blog through LJ or my writing (along with
geofflb's),
here is the link to the LJ RSS feed. /End shameless plug.
Finally, the internet is partially down here. For once it's not Cavalier's fault as the connection itself and my router works fine. For some reason my desktop refuses to connect to the internet though my laptop works just fine. I suspect that the computer may have picked up a Trojan horse. I haven't used the computer since Friday and I barely used it at all during the week because I wasn't home. But on Sunday I noticed that the monitor and speakers were turned off, the classic sign that Mark (yeah he's still here) had been using my computer. When I turned it on, the internet connection was literally unplugged since the ethernet cable was had been unplugged. When I plugged it back in I couldn't get a full connection, even after running "cmd" and "ipconfig /release" and "ipconfig /renew," so I began to check for spyware. Finding none, I searched for viruses during a boot up scan and found a Trojan horse hiding in system restore files. Odd, since I haven't run system restore in ages.
I had been password protecting Mark's account to keep him off (only letting him do homework), but set up an account for my mother and her boyfriend. I suspect that he figured out the password to my mom's account and used the computer on Saturday night while I was out. It is also possible that he might have gotten the Trojan doing who knows what, and unplugged the ethernet cable and turned off the computer. That's the only theory that makes sense to me, especially given that ethernet cables aren't something that you can accidentally kick free. I'll probably ask again, but I doubt that I'll get any kind of answer. Damned Kids.
Anyway, I'm off to put in long hours at UPS.
