While hunting for pictures of stuff to take for my blog I set up this little deal for the main banner. Since the blog will focus on geeky things I dragged out almost everything I could think the blog content. Unfortunately my PS2 was in use (Mark playing a Naruto game) so I settled on my Dreamcast instead. Some of the more difficult things to see are the Otakon 2007 and Ohayocon 2008 con badges, a copy of Jet Grind Radio, Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions, Kingdom Hearts, a Motoko figure from Ghost in the Shell: SAC, and a copy of The Matrix Reloaded. I'll probably continue to work on the blog this weekend but I might do other things such as revise my resume, work on my portfolio and start the job hunting process.
On another note it looks like I might finally be free of the expensive yoke that is Comcast Cable, aka their broadband internet. After about three years of asking it looks like Cavalier has finally gotten DSL in my area. It always annoyed me that friends who lived a mile or so away could have DSL but I couldn't because the company had not expanded yet. Yesterday my mother called about Cavalier's C2 package (phone and DSL, we already have phone) and was told that the service was available. She put in the order for a modem and it should be here next week.
So once it arrives I'll just have to make sure everything works and then hopefully I'll be able to leave Comcast in the dust. Comcast is very fast but I'm tired of paying $61 dollars each month just for the internet. Whenever I call comcast to ask about cheaper rates I'm always told that I could add TV or phone service to lower the price of my broadband service. Next time I call I can happily say that I'm canceling the service altogether. Even if the DSL is slower it's less than half the price, now that's something that I can deal with.
