How could you, FireFox???

I'm not sure what's more of a pain when it comes to FireFox, losing your bookmarks or restoring them. I never thought I'd be so annoyed and somewhat distressed about the prospect, but I was. So after a crappy day at work (I felt fairly sick in the unusually high heat), I worked on restoring my bookmarks. I ended up staying up two hours later than I wanted to, but today worked out for the best. As I thought, nothing lost in FireFox is truly gone, it's just so hard to find that it's like being gone for good. Turns out that every so often FireFox backs up bookmarks in a user profile folder. The folder is not easy to access (at least in Windows XP) and is essentially a hidden file. So using the "Run" feature and the command %AppData%, is the only to find the folder, unless the hidden files feature is removed in Windows. Once there, it was finally a matter of moving my archived bookmark data into a folder that was easy to find in order to import them back into FireFox.

With that problem solved, I found that the built in search bar no longer worked. I'm not sure what happened, though I doubt it had anything to do with my bookmarks. Trying to add new searches failed (it's like that feature was completely broken), and I gave up on it. I created a new profile (the search bar worked perfectly), imported my bookmarks, then found that I had to go looking for all of my extensions again. I still like FireFox over IE (for a multitude of reasons), but at times I don't remember IE being a pain in the ass like this. Before my bookmarks got wiped out, the browser would stop responding, then randomly restart my computer when it was closed. All I can say is that when FireFox works all is well, when it doesn't work prepare to get frustrated.

That was pretty much my day yesterday. Today was far better by comparison. The laundry was done, anime was watched and I didn't feel as sick at work as I did the previous day. A full dinner + hot weather and humidity make for a risky combination.
