As far as storylines go, this episode was pretty average. Not terrible but nothing to get excited over. Although having Jeremy Irons in it was pretty cool, especially that voice! There were some definite moments that made you go huh, but that seems to happen in every episode.
The kids that discover crimes in L&O, even if they initially have a bit too much of a sticky beak they always do the right thing in the end and call the police. Which is more than some of the adults do. In a neighbourhood full of high rise apartment buildings, the kids wouldn't have know the exact address, so how long would it have taken the police to get there?
This was the first of the huh moments. Debbie was raped and yet there was no indication that she had been seen by a doctor, and she wouldn't let Olivia do a rape kit, and she was going in to operate on her partner who had been beaten after walking in on her rape. There are so many things wrong with this scenario
I loved how that in all the excitment of the attack and Cap coming for Ann for the first time in years, he still managed to be so accepting and PC about the decision making process for Ann.
They never really made much of the fact that Debbie was raped when it was Ann that the rapist was after.
The mask wouldn't have been an easy thing to draw or even remember exactly. They were probably lucky that they were able to find the pictures from Virginia.
If Cap knew about who the rapist/attacker could be but wasn't going to say anything because of confidentiality, why would he even mention that fact to Elliot. Wouldn't it have been better to deny having any knowledge? I loved that George went all fanboy over Cap, but some of it was just to butter him up. I was a little surprised that Elliot didn't pounce on the curing sex offenders thing a little faster.
Cap thought that he might have raped his daughter. This is the type of thing that gets the detectives, especially Elliot, foaming at the mouth. So I was really really surprised that they continued to treat him so nicely, didn't try to keep him away from Ann etc
Besides being in the right city, how did they connect the rapes to the sex rehab centres? Or was it because of what Cap had said earlier.
Elliot didn't seem to have any trouble convincing Cragen to let him go undercover. Actually he didn't even discuss it, he just said I'll be off the radar for a few days, which made it way too easy.
Considering the rules in this clinic, I wouldn't imagine that it would be too easy for people to come and go as they please. Although the modesty rule was a ncie touch. Seems a little bit risky to have bait dangling as a part of the therapy process :(
Olivia believes Cap can solve the case but as we later found out the rapist wasn't anyone Cap would have suspected. So who was his suspect?
And now Olivia isn't getting upset when Cap says that he is starting to remember raping Ann. I don't get it! Especially with teh following conversation about locking rapists up like animals
Well the therapist's plan for Courtney clearly didn't work. It took her all of 5 minutes to try and seduce Elliot.
I was impressed with Cap's reaction to Elliot being in the clinic and how he started to play along almost immediately
Ok the only potential evidence I could see against Clay was the bandage on his arm. You do not need to be interested in Hindusm to know about Nirvana and he admitted that he liked teenagers. The victims that we have seen are younger, but definitely not teenagers.
Considering the age difference and the positions they were in, I was surprised that Linda didn't have any hard feelings about her night with Cap. Even if it had of been something like she wasn't proud of what they did.
And now Cap's in on it, devising a pretty clever way to get around the modesty rule.
Even though, as usual, they would be breaking all sorts of rules by having Cap help out, it woudl have taken them a lot longer to race everything to Brett without him.
Really, they're trying to track down a rapist and Elliot takes the time to notice that Courtney's missing? Ok it was useful in the end but still :(
Very nice timing. Although I think Brett probably has a good shot at an insanity defence. So unfortunately for Cap, he probably won't be locked up for life.
Certainly some of the patients at the clinic would have left because of Cap letting the police in, but then ones like Courtney, who wasn't actually doing anything illegal, shouldn't have cared.
Unfortunately I don't think Ann is going to wake up. And even if she does she's not going to be in a good condition :(
