Ever read two books at once and the details blend together until you can't separate them?
Not Your Faery Tale,
Twisted Fates Cafe, and Scribing Shadows present Mondays in Opposition to solve that problem. Two or more contrasting books that work well to read simultaneously are featured for those ravenous readers out there.
There seems to be a little problem with the rotation for the Mondays in Opposition post but here is the next installment.
Title: Bitten
Author: Kelley Armstrong
Publisher: Plume
Ever since her parents were killed in a car accident when she was five, Elena Michaels has longed for a normal family life. Smart, beautiful, and engaged to be married, Elena hopes to fulfill that dream when disaster strikes. Not only has her fiancé lied about his secret life as a werewolf, but he's made her one, too. She has no choice but to join him at Stonehaven, the upstate New York home of an elite pack of werewolves.
In an attempt to break away, she moves to Toronto to lead a normal life. Working as a journalist, Elena now lives with her new architect boyfriend, works out in the basement gym of their high-rise apartment, lunches with girlfriends from the office, and once a week, at four in the morning runs naked and furred through a downtown Toronto ravine, ripping out the throats of her animal prey. But when a band of outlaw werewolves threatens the Stonehaven pack, Elena's feral instincts drive her back there to join the defense. What follows is a war for territory, for pride, and ultimately for Elena herself.
Writing with the visceral power of Anne Rice, Kelley Armstrong has created a fascinating story of a woman struggling for her identity.
Title: Stolen Fury
Author: Elisabeth Naughton
Publisher: Love Spell
My Review To unearth a centuries-old secret, an archaeologist must team up with the rakish thief who's stolen both an ancient relic and her heart...
Oh, is he handsome. And charming. And sexy as all get out. Dr. Lisa Maxwell isn’t the type to go home with a guy she barely knows. But, hey, this is Italy and the red-blooded Rafe Sullivan seems much more enticing than cataloging a bunch of dusty artifacts.
After being fully seduced, Lisa wakes to an empty bed and, worse yet, an empty safe. She’s staked her career as an archaeologist on collecting the three Furies, a priceless set of ancient Greek reliefs. Now the one she had is gone. But Lisa won’t just get mad. She’ll get even.
She tracks Rafe to Florida, and finds the sparks between them blaze hotter than the Miami sun. He may still have her relic, but he’ll never find all three without her. And they’re not the only ones on the hunt. To beat the other treasure seekers, they’ll have to partner up-because suddenly Lisa and Rafe are in a race just to stay alive.
Featuring two adult books this week one being a paranormal action packed thrill ride and the other being a suspenseful romance with lots of Indiana Jones-ish adventure. Both books I enjoyed greatly Bitten for its dark, fast paced writing filled with werewolf dynamics and teeth and claw fight scenes, and Stolen Fury for its treasure hunting, cat and dog chase scenes, and romantic energy. Both books are not only distinctly different but they are both highly enjoyable for anyone looking for a adrenaline filled read.
