It's been a good day
I woke up this morning feeling indignant, proud, and ready to take on the world - not to mention well-rested. :grin: I laid in bed for a few extra minutes, running my dream-speech over and over in my head, making sure it didn't fade as I started to get up and moving. I ran into the den and started sketching it out. Next thing I knew, I had taken most of the morning off and spent a good hour or two in my bathrobe, fleshing out what is probably the first non-assigned short story I've written since high school. The setting and characters are taken directly from my dream, but I didn't include some of the more confusing dream things - like why I showed up in my bathrobe, or felt the need to clarify to them that I would be dressed once I actually started working. :shakes head: I had a good time typing it out, and I think it started my day off perfectly.
I was feeling so creative, in fact, I managed to cook myself some breakfast! Not even just eggs and cheese like I might do on day to myself - but eggs and cheese and sour cream all scrambled up with minced onions and garlic spices, then tossed into a slightly toasted tortilla. It was tasty, but could've done with a little bacon. Then again, I think that's true for most things. Yeah, to the layperson, it doesn't sound like much but I hardly ever cook for myself, and keep it incredibly simple when I do. I'm almost inspired to go buy food for the house so I can pick up this crazy habit!
In keeping with my very domestic/zen feeling - I picked up my room and started some laundry, and briefly considered taking care of the dishes, but I was already taking my sweet time getting to work, and finally needed to get moving. Although I didn't get much of a chance to work on what I wanted to (had to put out other fires) I felt quite smart the whole day through. Seemingly complex problems became clear to me in no time at all, and I consistently made my life easier with new ways to do things. When I was asked for opinions and didn't have any, I was able to come up with such convincing arguments for the first words that came out of my mouth that I not only convinced myself, but others as well. :grin: There was a slight glitch at the end of the day that kept me a little longer than I would've liked, but all in all - it's been a damn good day!
Sadly, I just got a brief nap in before work tonight, but the night has been flying - I can't believe it's already 3:30 - I just want to keep doing stuff!
