-Quick bite review-
Colbie Caillat. Queen of catchy. I like how each song includes a subtle genre twist, some country here, some R&B there. This album takes it to another level, producing a variety of songs that create themes of independence, empowerment and confidence. I love them all. Every woman needs this album.
Live It Up - A confident intro. "I'm unstoppable, I drop-kick impossible. I break down the walls, I back-hand and smash them all.'Blaze - The strongest song. Catchy, upbeat, fun and constantly in my head.
If You Love me, Let me Go - My favourite song. I love the subtle sounds effects. It's the kind of song everyone can sing along to.
Try - A beautiful, simplistic song about being happy in your own skin. Lovely, gentle, soothing.
Never Gonna Let You Down - A friendly song, and obviously catchy. Tame, relatable lyrics
Land Called Far Away - This is about finding love through following your dreams and being yourself. Don't change for anyone. Sweet, wise, and country.
Nice Guys - Ambitious for Colbie, but it works just fine, thank you very much. I like the punchy bridge. There's a lesson to be learned here.
Floodgates - Probably the fastest track on the album. Colbie gets the chance to unleash her vocal power and tells us not to be ashamed, to embrace our emotion. Great to dance to.
Just Like That - What goes around, comes around kinda thing going on here. Colbie got claws! No body hurts Colbie.
Break Free - She can even make an emotional song catchy! I like the drama within the lyrics and the piano. Absolutely beautiful.
Never Getting Over You - An echoing theme from 'Break Free' and 'Just Like That' maybe slightly slower. Her heart's broken but she's ok. Good for you.
Bigger Love - The only song on the album I don't love. I find the constant echo of 'big love' annoying.
Him or You - Colbie tells us about the stereotypical love triangle in a fresh way, explaining through lovely lyrics why she has fallen in love twice. "No matter what I do, I can't have two, but tell me how do I choose? Him or You?"
Hold On - A wonderful close to the album. Her vocal range here is nice, and, yes, really catchy!
5 stars for Colbie! 9/10.
