Well folks, been along time since I updated this thing, sorry to all those who constantly read my Lj... But it shouldn't be intereting for anyone! Heh, lately I have been spending all my time at aprils house preparing for Halloween. I have been creating a Sword from the popular anime/manga Inuyasha... And if you guessed yet, I am going to be Inuyasha himself!!! MUAHAH... I am almost done completing my 6-7 footlong Tetsugia. But I will talk more about that here...
WELL HERE WE ARE...
1. Sooooo heres the start! It is just a quick sketch done one night...
2. Soooo I decided to make m'sword! With that I needed Wood... aprils father had some nice pine boards... I was pleased with that because pine board sands very very smoothly and soft~~! (2 6ft. pine board 1" thick Average cost 10 bucks a plank. For me FREE!!)
3. Well, with the boards secured, I need to sketch the sword outlines... Did that and cut some relief lines so when I worked with the jigsaw i wouldnt have to worry about the board snapping. (Tools... FREE for ME!)
4. Well, the boards were cut and sanded with rough sand paper... will do the fine stuff later.
5. I applied wood glue... the super premium stuff! and I clamped the shit, I mean... Over 15 clamps on that puppy! Needless to say, I clamped it and left it over night... The picture was just the preclamps... Much larger clamps where used too... (Clamps FREE!!! YAY!)
6. Needless to say, when I got back in the morning SUPER HARDNESS HAPPY ACTION TIME!!! ITSCRAZYFUNTIME! Heh, anyways, I took the clamps off and sanded and carved teh sides down using an razor knife... very tedious work but got the job done.
7. Now I needed a handle, April's dad got me a couple steel pipes... FREE OF CHARGE! MUAH. anyways... cutting them was a bitch and a half, but I managed... it was a foot and a half long!
8. Next came drilling the 1" thick hole for the 1" thick steel pipe. well... lets just say I clamped the end and used a hole drill and drilled as far as i could... well, i was a little short but that was ok. I then inserted teh steel pipe and proceeded to SMASH IT WITH A HAMMER!!! *ahem* Actually it worked fairly well, the wood didn't crack which is what i feared. After that I continued to drill two holes into the wood and steel pipe so I could put bracing screws... they are almost nonexistant but there!
the way the sword is angled it looks like it went in crooked but its not...
9. Well, here it is. the halfway finished work... I still got alot of sanding and priming and painting... not to mention furring and wrapping the handle. MEOW!! and here are a couple pics of me with it...
Well there you go, thats what I have been doing this weekend... Hope to get some good feedback... this is one halloween Im going all out! ttyal... I will have more for you laters!
