I had a meeting for the children's literature reading discussion group tonight. We were talking about Lois Lowry. One of the participants was talking about a book by Lowry where the girl has put dog poo into a bag, but she sees someone watching her scooping the poop, and is embarrassed, and gets distracted, and accidentally puts the bag of poo into a mailbox. So, later in the book, it turns out that the poo somehow kept a mailbox bomb from going off, and the girl, who is horrified by the whole thing, is actually a hero. The whole time the girl was telling about this, I just kept thinking, "the dog poo saved the day" and started giggling. Then, Becca looked at me and said, "I think Shanna's going to lose it," and then she started laughing. Which set me to laughing so hard I had tears streaming down my face.
